I'm finally posting my comment on here to give my perspective of this school. Its ran majority by African American women such as myself. I attended this school and had to stop abruptly due to circumstances I could not control. I stayed in contact with "administration" to effectively communicate and let them know the extent of my situation. With all due respect I would have love to complete this program amongst my peers. This wasn't the case. I contacted them after a year of getting myself together and you know what the director told me. This was her exact words "this is last time calling this school, after this, I can't help you anymore". What shook me the most was I didn't have to call and communicate a thing about what I was going through but I did. After that I changed my mind about being amongst my peers and dang near changed my mind about doing hair. I started looking else where and schools that treat thier students with professionalism and good attitudes. You never know what someone deals with beyond the doors of your establishment. Its sad that our community of African American schools that do hair in a business in which we dominate would have such low regards and nastiness towards future entrepreneurs. You loose no money when a student experiences hardships but what you do loose is respect for your establishment. I didn't want to believe the low ratings but they are exactly as viewed after my experience. Read through the student experiences yourself.
We don't always fit in where we think we belong, sometimes the fit we're looking for may be the absolute change we need. ā¤
šUpdate.... In response to the Owner. Youre the new owner, you wasnt around 8 years ago to know what was going when I wrote the review. It was revised last year because I noticed mutiple spelling errors. So to post in response to my review and say anything about behavioral standards is kind of confusing when you wasn't no where near this school during the time of my enrollment nor do have you met me. So please stop there. You wrote in response to my review to try to discredit my experience 8 years ago which is nasty work (you weren't aroundš¤¦š¾āāļø) Before you responded to me you should've asked me to call so we could have gotten some type of understanding of who I was and what happened. Once...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTHEY LOST A CUSTOMER. Im only giving 2 stars because the lady that cut my first sons hair was nice and a few of the students butā¦ā¦ The Hispanic lady that was managing was rude and refused to give me a refund after I told her that I couldnāt wait longer for my sons hair to get cut. She kept giving me excuses about this being a beauty college instead of telling me up front that I would be waiting over an hour for my other son to get his hair cut. I understand that itās a school and they have customers but every time I take my sons to get their hair cut, the barber lets me know about how long it will take until itās their turn, itās the same when I get my hair done. They charge the same prices as professionals, so donāt go thinking youāre going to pay less and youāll get unprofessional customer service. The students need someone to practice on and we donāt have to come here if we canāt help each other out. They donāt even get paid for their work. Why are the prices so high? I try to support black owned businesses but not giving refunds when I change my mind about receiving service because I was not warned about the extended wait time is unprofessional and rude. I didnāt need excuses, I wanted MY money back so I can leave and take care of the rest of my business for the day. This really messed up my schedule. When the stylist was done doing a bad job on my sons hair, the Hispanic lady told me I needed to be patient. She could care less about what I had to do for the rest of the day. I canāt sit in there all day like her. She also told me that next time I should get my sons hair washed next time. When she saw that his hair wasnāt clean enough, she could have asked me to pay for the service but instead she chose to complain about it. I would have gladly paid for him to get his hair washed before the cut but no one suggested it, they just cut it that way. I had no idea that he didnāt wash his hair good enough or I would have asked for the service up front. Heās 12 years old, no need to attempt to shame me for not washing his hair thoroughly, heās old enough to wash his own hair. Iāll NEVER visit this place again. She just put a bad taste in my mouth about it. I like receiving good customer service but not everyone can provide that and Iāll go to other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt hurts my heart to give them a bad review however I cannot keep quiet about this. Let me start by saying I had been going here off and on over the past 12 years. And while I have in general found them to be a little unprofessional. The quality of the work I had done here always made up for it and it is a teaching school. Two weeks ago I went for a retouch. I arrived early, waited in line and then was informed someone had ripped the wiring out. We were told we could sign in but it was possible we would not be served today. After an hour the founder came. We were invited into group prayer the electricity was restored . After a few moments a young man Romeo called for me. He asked me why I was getting a perm, that should have been my cue to get out while I had a full head of hair. He was distracted , dancing and socializing but still I didn't think anything of it. That's the norm at this place. Finally a feel a little burn happening on my scalp, we go to the bowl. The instructor joins him and has to tell him he must rinse the perm out around my edges and the nape of my neck. She takes over for him and really scrubbed while giving me a massage. I was in heaven. After she informs me my hair had broken off. She shows me a chunk of hair. She asked if I'm on medicine and I tell her I am not and now we move to conditioning. Romeo blows dries my hair and then has me sit under the dryer. He flat irons my hair and trims the ends. It looks great. Now the main instructors comes over and inquires why my hair was shedding . Same question "are you on medicines?" No I reply . I tip and go. My hair has been coming out in chunks every since. At this point I will be shaving my head and starting all over. And I think this will be my last time going to this place. Stuff happens. But the fact that they left me leave knowing I was practically bald in the back when I walked in with shoulder length hair without even an apology not an offer of a refund or future services is beyond distrubing. That is no way to...
