Terrible experience in the apple store of USC bookstore. I bought an AirPods Pro in September and it was out of stock. So I paid the money and they said they would send me an email when it’s back to store. It appeared that after 2-3 months’ waiting, they still didn’t send me any emails and the new generation of AirPods Pro had come. When I went to the store today to talk to the manager Min Yoo, he said they only do customer services due to paper receipts. But who would keep the paper for 4 months? So I asked if they had my purchase records and seeked for other ways to deal with my problem. However, the only thing Min did was indicating we were telling lies and we were going to cheat. He spent half an hour to teach me how I should behave but never gave us the solution of our problem. He didn’t search for our purchase record until another customer reminded us that the electronic record should be available. As the manager, he should know that he can get the records, but he just behaved very unprofessionally and purposely made difficulties for us. We wasted a lot of time there and finally got our refund. So why didn’t him provide the solutions and give us the refund at the first time? BTW, as I was offended by his words which indicated I was cheating and that I was rude, I told him not to teach me lessons. I said only my father and teachers can teach me. He remembered that and said when we were leaving ‘if only your father can teach you, why do you come to college?’ Everyone can teach me except...
Read moreI came here during college, primarily to pick up swag for home games. I got those metal pins reading "BEAT [X]," armbands, stick-on tattoos, and so on. They've got a wide selection of t-shirts, but those turned out to be as tacky as most screen printed shirts so I would rather have opted for sweatshirts (except of course those hardly prove relevant). All in all, I advice college first years to take it slow on the college merch. Who knows if you'll still want it two or four years from now. Plus, freshman fifteen means you may get the wrong size!
My primary problem is with the sourcing it their athletic apparel. The football team and by extension the bookstore source their wares from Nike, which has been known with good reason as a massive sweatshop. Their "PR troubles" (read: child labor, physical abuse, unpaid overtime, no benefits) began in the '90s and despite widespread apologetics they continue to use them today. USC football's had its own ethical lapses, but none as awful as their reliance on...
Read moreDoctoral regalia rental was supposed to start and they didn't have regalia, sending off a ton of graduates into panic. The "shipment of gowns to USC was lost by FedEx", so they didn't know whether the (hundreds of?) rental regalia would arrive in time. (1) why do they not know?! Doesn't FedEx give them... a tracking number that informs them whether it'll arrive in time? And (2) why would they organize the shipment of gowns such that all their rental regalia would arrive right at the time of graduation? Shouldn't they organize it such that they arrive a couple of weeks in advance, IN CASE ANYTHING GOES WRONG? Also, of course, they're not answering any calls. Thanks for ruining graduation...
