Lots of fun experiences, massive science centre, even saw the fuel tank and space shuttle of the Endeavour
The California Science Centre is a Science Centre located just ten minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The California Science Centre has various different attractions and sights to see, and I will mention some of these attractions and sights.
The first thing that you can see right after you enter the car park will be a giant Tundra Ute on a scale near the entrance. You have to pull the strings on the other side and try and lift the car. Even on the least amount of effort required string, it was very difficult to lift the car up. As we walked further in, there were two entrances: one for the theatre and one for the science center. We decided to buy tickets for one of the movies in 3D, and we had to don on 3D glasses before the show began. This show was called Journey to Space 3D and was talking about the NASA missions and this mission was refurbishing the Hubble Space Telescope. This telescope was in space because it were on the ground, there would be less things to see because Earth’s atmosphere blocks a lot of the light in space. This movie was captivating, and ran for a total of 41 minutes, just the right running time for viewers. The sounds effects and process involved in launching the spacecraft was very captivating and the 3D glasses made you feel as if you were in the scene itself. As we exited, we went to the real Science Center building, and we saw the Explora Store, which was the only store selling souvenirs about NASA and the Science Center.
We went up the escalator, and reached the area for real, used capsules by NASA. There were information about each of the space capsules, and it also showed marks of friction on the base of the capsules. The lines marked on the base shows the force of entering Earth’s atmosphere, providing a real-life reason of why asteroids burn so quickly. Without this attraction, we would not know how cramped the space shuttle seats were. The astronauts had to cram themselves in, with an array of controls in front of them and to the left and right of them. It was a very complicated machinery. This attraction gives you facts about famous space capsules and also has the actual capsules themselves.
The next experience we saw was a model or prototype of space aircraft with solar panels, and the Hubble Space Telescope. The models were hanging from the ceiling, and they were in scale. There were also facts about them, showing the planet they wanted to reach, was it successful and the date it was launched and the day it landed. Some of the aircraft suffered a tragic failure, while some were an awesome success. One of the aircraft failed as it was flying to Venus as it burned out in its inhospitable atmosphere.
After that we exited and discovered many zones, such as the island zone, the LA zone, the ice zone, the discovery zone and many more zones.
Overall, the California Space Center is a breathtaking place that is definitely worth a visit. This space center is right for all age groups, from adults to kids, and it is a gargantuan center that is unique for everyone. The California Space Center is located in Exposition Park. The science center is loaded with information and it is also a fun place, so I give this place a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the California Science Center, and from the moment I stepped into the building, I was completely captivated. This incredible museum proved to be a haven of knowledge, wonder, and exploration, leaving me with unforgettable memories that I will cherish for a lifetime.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the California Science Center is the sheer breadth of exhibits on offer. As I wandered through the halls, I was amazed by the diverse range of scientific subjects covered, each one presented with meticulous attention to detail. It was a delight to be surrounded by such an abundance of fascinating things to see.
One highlight of my visit was the opportunity to witness machinery that had once been used by humans in action. The California Science Center masterfully showcases the evolution of technology, allowing visitors to step back in time and gain a deeper understanding of the ingenuity and creativity of past generations. It was awe-inspiring to witness firsthand the machines that shaped our history, and I found myself contemplating the incredible achievements of those who came before us.
However, the pinnacle of my experience was undoubtedly the close-up view of a spaceship and a rocket ship that had been transported through the bustling streets of Los Angeles and now found their resting place within the California Science Center. Standing face-to-face with these monumental marvels of engineering was a surreal and humbling experience. The attention to detail and the sheer size of these space-faring vessels left me in awe of human accomplishment and the infinite possibilities that lie beyond our Earthly confines.
Beyond the exhibits themselves, the California Science Center excels in providing a captivating learning environment. The staff members are incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and passionate about their subjects, making each interaction a valuable learning experience. Additionally, the interactive displays and hands-on activities allowed me to engage with science in a fun and immersive way, making the experience all the more enjoyable and educational.
The California Science Center also deserves praise for its dedication to accessibility. Read moreA Must-Visit Family-Friendly Destination in LA – California Science Center Review
Visited the California Science Center this past Sunday with my family and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. First off, parking was a breeze. There was ample space available in the nearby lots, even though we arrived around 12 PM—which, surprisingly, still gave us plenty of time to enjoy a big chunk of the center. However, if you're planning to explore all the buildings and take your time with each exhibit, I highly recommend arriving closer to 10 AM. We only managed to cover some of the buildings, and we easily could’ve spent several more hours there without getting bored.
The layout of the Science Center is very open and family-friendly. The walkways between the buildings are wide, scenic, and easy to navigate, even with strollers or small children in tow. Each building has its own theme or area of exploration, and we found ourselves immersed in hands-on exhibits, interactive stations, and educational displays that were genuinely engaging—not just for the kids but for us adults too!
What really stood out was how interactive and immersive the entire experience was. This isn’t one of those “look but don’t touch” museums. Kids are encouraged to touch, explore, press buttons, climb, and get hands-on with everything. From physics and biology to space exploration, every exhibit sparked curiosity and excitement.
The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient, especially with kids asking a million questions. They took the time to explain how different exhibits worked and even offered recommendations on what to see next depending on your group’s interests and ages.
There’s also a food court on the lower level, which was super convenient. The food was decent—nothing fancy, but good enough to grab a quick bite and recharge before diving back into the exhibits. There’s a good variety of options for both adults and children, and plenty of indoor seating space.
If you're coming with little ones, this place is absolutely perfect. The younger kids in our group were fascinated by the Discovery Rooms and the Ecosystems exhibit. The older ones loved the space shuttle and the earthquake simulator. Everyone found something to get excited about.
Pro tip: If you're local or live in the LA area, it’s worth checking out their membership or upcoming events and rotating exhibits. Also, admission to the general exhibits is free, which is a huge bonus—though they do ask for donations and have separate pricing for special exhibitions or IMAX shows.
All in all, this is one of Los Angeles’s hidden gems for families, tourists, or science lovers. Whether you're coming from nearby or out of town, this is the kind of place that offers fun, learning, and memories all wrapped up in one visit. We’ll definitely be coming back, especially to check out the exhibits we didn’t get a chance to see this time.
Highly recommend spending a full day here with your family—you...
