Why have such a beautiful park that can be enjoyed only open for 3 days then on those days close at 4:30p.m. on summer days..sad just sad especially when there's really nothing for the kids to do in Slidell..what really gets me upset is when I rode my bicycle thru this weekend I saw construction going on making another trail connecting it to another but why spend MILLIONS OF DOLLARS on construction to a park that's ONLY OPEN FOR 3 DAYS FRIDAY - SUNDAY AND CLOSES AT 4:30 P.M. EVEN ON SUMMER DAYS..NOW WHO'S GETTING SOMEKIND OF KICKBACK FOR THIS PROJECT??? IT'S RIDICULOUS THIS IS WHY THE VOTERS DIDN'T APPROVE THE EXTRA TAX..THINK ABOUT THE KIDS HERE..THEY USED TO HOLD SUMMER CAMPS HERE, MY DAUGHTER HAS WENT HERE FOR A FIELD TRIP WITH HER SCHOOL, ADULTS EXCERCISED HERE, IT KEPT PEOPLE HEALTHY BECAUSE THEY WORKED OUT HERE..BY DOING THIS DIDN'T HELP THE COMMUNITY BUT TO ADD MORE INSULT YOU GO SPEND MORE TAX PAYERS MONEY FOR CONSTRUCTION TO A PARK THAT THE TAX PAYERS CAN'T ENJOY BUT 3 DAYS A WEEK AND CLOSES AT 4:30P.M. EVEN ON SUMMER DAYS WHEN IT DOESN'T GET DARK TIL ABOUT 8:30 P.M...I WANT TO RIDE MY BIKE AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN ABOUT 7 IN THE PARK SO I DON'T HAVE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT BEING HIT BY A CAR WHILE TRYING TO DO SO..I PAY TAXES I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO SO..WHY PUT SO MUCH MONEY INTO A PARK SUCH AS WOODEN TRAILS,BENCHES IF WE CAN'T ENJOY IT 7 DAYS A WEEK LIKE A PARK IS SUPPOSED TO BE OPEN...SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT ABOUT NEW ORLEANS BUT IF THERE'S A PARK IT'S OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK FOR THE KIDS TO ENJOY BRINGING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER..BE BLESSED..JUST...

This is one of my favorite places to go for a quiet stroll. It's so peaceful to walk around the grounds and trails and imagine what it was like back when it was a Brick and Lumber Co and Boy scout camp. Flora and Fauna are abundant here, with a past boy scout even recounting a time when he was chased by a boar back when he was a lad. From deer to pitcher plants, this is the perfect places for outdoors lovers, though you sadly can't bring your dog, but that's pretty much EVERYWHERE in Slidell. Also, if you go in the summer, stay on the paths as the ticks are awful in the woods. My friend rode his bike through the brush once and when he got home he removed 13 ticks...

I'm really disappointed I have to make this review so low it's a beautiful park but we felt extremely unwelcomed. When we got to the park a ranger in a golf cart was staring us down and followed us as we pulled up to the parking area he drove up to us as we got out to tell Us when the park closes at (6:00) and he was being aggressive and we tried to inform him that Google had the wrong time (7:30) so he would be able to tell someone about it so it can be fixed he accused my friend of arguing and threatened to kicked us out and get the sheriff called on us. I'm not one for making complaints like this but this is the second time a ranger has been rude and...

It was a beautiful place. Boardwalk area at the beginning. Then on to the trails mostly grass via the wooded areas. But they have a black topped trail head thats accesible for wheel chair etc. The place is massive. Playground for kids and a party pavillion by playground. Some history is located on the property. Some beautiful scenery throughout the walk. Its about 5.1 miles wnere i was. I didnt finish the other part. The beauty was interrupted by 3 teen juveniles with a gun that they were firing into the tree line upon my approach down the Flatwoods cut through to grato area. Met park ranger, local police, and a lady from the office. Not what i wanted to deal with.

The trails are well marked, albeit somewhat short. There is ample opportunity to see Louisiana wildlife, as the trails wind along Bayou Liberty and also contain some smaller swamp areas almost akin to the swamp exhibit at the zoo. The main pavilion had bathrooms and a water fountain. They have a pretty nice playground set, as well. I look forward to exploring the remaining trails I did not get to today, as well as being the bike out sometime to see where that trail leads.

This is a nice and clean family part. The park was well cared for. We spent a couple hours hiking a few of the trails. The trails are fairly short but fun for a quick hike. We like how they have both swamp and pine forest trails here. The trails were well cleared and most had gravel surfaces. It also has a nice play ground for the smaller kids.
