I'm the groom and I can't write a review better than one of my groomsmen did. This is what he wrote about the night of my wedding. This has been posted on YELP and want to save anyone from the disaster that we had.
"I would have put 0 stars but it probably would have been viewed as a competitor just bashing his competition. Now on to the review.
From start to finish this guy Chad acted like a very unprofessional child. During the wedding procession he got on his microphone ( his microphone was his best friend all night) and tried to almost pump up the crowd and then shushed them. Later in the reception he walked around and tried to meet all of the guests and ask questions about the whole experience. Next during the couples first dance song, he once again got on his microphone and commented on the song choice. The night would go back and forth between his commentary about songs and him unexplainably turning on the house lights ( very strange). On multiple occasions the groom and family asked him to stop talking so much and allow the bride and groom to enjoy their guests and their wedding night. After being asked to calm down the play by play he would go stand in the corner and sulk like a child. But don't worry he would get over it and go back to talking on the mic again. Flash forward to the fake bride and groom exit ( it was fake for pictures and so the reception could continue with the bride and groom) and a guest commented to Chad that he really talks to much on the microphone..... Boom, world war 3!!! He blew up and acted like a stage performer who had been insulted during a performance. This altercation was then calmed down but not before Chad walked into the hall and turned off the music and turned on the lights. After a conversation with the brides mom, he turned the music back on and got back on his microphone to try to get the remaining crowd back in party mode ( damage was already done). Continue on 5 minutes, Chad sought out the guest who had hurt his ego, and continued to get in his face (the guest is about 5'1 so it was obviously an intimidation technique) and yell at him about how it's his venue and he is the MC. This almost caused a big fight in the middle of the wedding.
On top of all of this strange behavior, I personally saw Chad making and drinking full glasses of vodka on the rocks. I have never been to a wedding where a owner/ employee openly drinks and does his/ her best to try to take focus away from the couple and make it about him. All of the best weddings I have been to, the staff does their best to stay out of the way and help the guests have a good time. The rest of Chads staff apparently agrees with me because the rest of the staff was great. They did a great job. HE was the only problem.
I just feel bad that a happy day was potentially ruined by a guy thinking that he was bigger than the...
Read moreA very special 'THANK YOU' to Chad and the staff at the Antebellum House!! I had a surprise 50th birthday party for my husband on June 19th. Family members are still talking about the party! Everything was awesome!! Chad went above and beyond to ensure the evening was a success. Because I live in Texas, we did all the planning by phone and email. I had so much on my plate...especially with me being out of state, but Chad stepped in to make sure no detail was left undone. He took care of all the decorations and put me in contact with good people who provided great service for the birthday cake (which not only looked great, but tasted great), as well as the balloon decorations. His suggestion for a slideshow at the end of the night proved to be a great hit. Everyone really enjoyed the walk down memory lane. It brought family and friends together, with lots of laughter and love. His suggestion to put pictures of my husband on the cake table was a great hit! We ended up giving some of the pictures away to our guest. When we arrived in town, Chad made sure we had access to the venue to make sure the slideshow presentation would go smoothly. He was very accommodating and reassured us that he was available to do whatever we needed. The only thing I had to do on the day of our special event, was make sure my husband showed up for the surprise. THE VENUE WAS GORGEOUS!! Through out the evening, Chad served as an excellent host!! The small suggestions he made ensured that the party was a success. The food was hot and the taste was great! The guests gave high compliments! My daughter couldn't stop eating the crab rangoon and the pasta antebellum was a hit with everyone! We had more than enough food and the staff made sure it was available. Our party just happened to be on the same night as the NBA Finals! A special THANK YOU to Chad for allowing our family/friends to finish the night watching the game together. This was a very special moment for us. Cavs and Warrior fans- and Chad made sure the rival was alive in the room! LOL! MUCH LAUGHTER!! This night will forever live in our hearts. Chad, you kept your word!! Your years of experience, attention to detail, and love for what you do made sure we will have a lifetime of memories! My husband said this was the best birthday EVER!! If I ever need to have another event in Slidell, it will definitely be at the Antebellum House!! From our hearts...
Read moreMy wife and I were married at the Antebellum House on October 19th in 2018.
Chad Lowe, the owner, made it his personal mission to ensure our special day was perfect, and perfect it was indeed.
From start to finish, he helped us with planning our wedding, whether it was the food served, the music played, or the sequence of the ceremony, he MADE SURE we were taken care of. He made adjustments on the fly (and if anyone knows my wife, there were plenty).
All of our guests were complimentary of the venue and the service provided. The staff was gracious and accommodating, even with our invited crowd. The food choices we picked, with Chad’s help, were a hit with everyone that attended. So much so, that our family ordered more to take take home.
From a cost standpoint, the services the Antebellum House provided saved us from having to book a venue, caterer, DJ, photographer, and officiant separately since Chad can provide all of those services at incremental prices.
I know this may sound like someone who works there is writing this review themselves. I’ve been in the hospitality/ casual dining industry my entire adult life. I have rarely, if ever, experienced the level of commitment, professionalism, and graciousness Chad and his staff displayed to my wife and I, our family, and our invited guests. If anyone has any further questions, PLEASE email me and I’ll be glad to share more of our experience.
My wife may not know it now, but for every fifth year we’re married, we’re going back to the Antebellum House to celebrate.
All the gratitude I can muster goes to Chad Lowe and his staff. Thank you for an amazing night that I, my wife, our beautiful boys, our family, friends, and (thanks to social media) the world will never forget, and yet will be completely jealous of.
Gratefully,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Aquino,...
