While I actually think that this store is the BEST retro store I think I've ever been to. Sadly, I think it's the worst customer service I've ever had shopping my entire life. Went in to get a disc clean. Not a big deal when one of the staff mentioned it would be a minute. Since it was my first time. Thought I'd walk around to see what the store had to offer. (I just moved here from Colorado Springs.) After I was done and saw it was less busy. I went over to see about getting my disc clean. They told me how the disc cleaning would go. Mentioned it may not work even after. That part was fine. It wasn't working anyway. What REALLY bothered me. Was when I was complimenting the staff on how the store handled games with extreme care or told them that I thought it was probably the best retro store I've ever been to. They flat out ignored me. Wouldn't even acknowledge it AT ALL. As if I had done something wrong my FIRST time in the establishment. Completely monotone. Didn't even wish me a good Memorial Day weekend. Coming from a Military family. That was pretty awful. Terrible in everyway. Not only do I think that's bad customer service. I don't feel comfortable coming back. Not sure if a lot of others have had a similar experience, but I felt highly judged when they wouldn't even respond to me about simple things I was saying. I'm bummed to say the least because I genuinely would like to go back, but not if I'm treated like I'm stupid for having said the store was great in the first place.
As a first time shopper of this store. Not a great first impression. Where that should be the...
Read moreGreat Store, like a window into the past. I've traveled across the country on work and, there is nothing like Games Ahoy in this area. Fantastic Fun, and Friendly.
Hello! My name is Kevin Anderson and I just wanted to recognize all the Games Ahoy staff I have dealt with for their amazing service and professionalism. If I had a better memory and more time I would thank them all by name, but I can barely remember where I left my keys this morning so most of the names are escaping me currently; but everyone I have dealt with has been knowledgeable and fantastic to do business with.
I always get fantastic service at your stores but I wanted to especially thank the two gentlemen that helped me on 1/20/16 with my Retron 5. First the gentleman working the location near Walmart at about 10:20am, was super helpful with a complex issue I had with some hardware. He was able to contact GM Andy right away and had a solution for me in mere minutes. I was very impressed but forgot the gentleman's name unfortunately. Later Andy helped me out in person (an item was out of stock at the other store) and again exceeded my expectations by taking the time to test out the replacement component. As it turned out the first replacement did have a defect and by testing it first Andy ensured that the component I needed was in working order; saving me a trip.
Today was just another great example of the fantastic service Games Ahoy and their staff commits themselves to. I can buy games a lot of places; I chose to buy at Games Ahoy because of the amazing people...
Read moreProbably my least favorite games ahoy. People here in particular don't know what they're talking about, and are rude as well. Dude that's usually here says 'how can I help you' as you walk in the door. Strange thing to say as half of my body is still outside, how about a simple 'Hello'. Another guy tried saying a Wii sensor bar is 'getting hard to find'. Like, you realize the Wii is top 5 of all time best selling home consoles right? We're not talking about a jaguar CD (doubt he'd know what that is).
Can we talk about how Games Ahoy has a policy that if you buy something BRAND NEW from them and don't end up needing it, they straight up won't take it back? What policy is that? Who in 2023 has a policy that buying something brand new means you can't return it (literally tried it after buying it the same day).
Imagine buying a new toaster, and then you find your old one and want to return it the same day and a store is like "Yeah, we can't do that". I understand opening a video games is one of thing, but a $10 3rd party memory card you can't return?
I want to point out that I love games ahoy, I've been coming for at least 10 years, but the policy and this store in particular are both things that I desire more from. It's great that you're selling retro stuff, and I love watching the success of the other Loveland store and Fort Collins store. However, let's get a little more customer focused with returns (ease up a bit) and don't try to act like an expert if you actually don't know what you're...
