Great views from this lighthouse… it is quite what you would expect if you have been in others (great photo opportunities, tight stairway, seemed higher than it looks when you’re up in it, and very windy .). Don’t underestimate the climb, and passing oncoming stairclimbers is tight.
On the day we visited, three out of three staff members were somewhat patronizing and underwhelming… Maybe because they volunteer… maybe because it was the end of the day… or maybe because they truly do feel that they are doing you a favor just by being there.
Amusingly, when I tried to dispose of some trash that I picked up on the grounds… (trash that was left by someone else)… I was treated to a lethargic mini lecture about why this is a “ pack in/pack out” location. I tried to explain to the trash laureate in the gift shop that I was trying to dispose of someone else’s garbage… turns out that I had to “pack it out”… haha. However, if they had a couple of trash cans… Maybe the parking lot and the grass wouldn’t be peppered with bits of trash here and there. As is the case on most seashores… It is very windy… And the trash on the grounds very likely originated somewhere else nearby. So… Your self-declared “pack in/pack out” policy might just work… if the wind that carries in the trash also blows it away without getting caught in your fence or...
Read moreOur visit to the Cape May Point Lighthouse coincided with an overcast afternoon, accompanied by a touch of rain and an assertive breeze. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, the scene held a quiet charm, made all the more serene by the noticeable absence of crowds.
After a rather lengthy drive, we arrived just as the lighthouse was preparing to close for the day. I had hoped to capture the coastal beauty with a drone, but the wind proved far too unruly for flight. It was, undeniably, not the sort of day suited to beachside leisure.
Nonetheless, the setting was striking in its own right. The lighthouse stood with timeless grace at the edge of the shore, lending a stately air to the natural beauty of the surroundings. The adjacent beach, expansive and scenic, beckons for a return visit—preferably on a sunlit day with calmer winds. The ample provision of free public parking is a welcome convenience, making the experience all the more enjoyable.
I’ve resolved to return later this summer, in hopes of enjoying the locale under more favourable conditions—and perhaps arriving a touch earlier to make...
Read moreIt was an amazing experience being there. I must say if you are near this place, dont miss the opportunity to visit here. You have to purchase ticket to go to the top. Tickets are not available online you have to get it onsite. You have to climb lot of stairs to reach to the top. Be mindful to take a halt aside whenever you see someone climbing up. Also as a climber make sure to take breaks while climbing, take some air and move on. On the way climbing up and at the top you will get to know history of this light house that will make you feel mesmerized and also you will come to know the chages it adapted in terms of physics to light up the place and reflect it to ships sailing miles away. I loved this place. As i said there is a ticket needed to climb up so the ticket price was i think 12$/15$ I dont remember exactly, or i will update this after checking my credit statememt.
Warning: If you scare of heights then please dont go at the top. Hope you will have fun there with friends and...
