We came here on Memorial Day. The visitor's center was closed. And so we walked to the beach, like we did in 2019, and years past, so we could see the natural beach and all the animals.
The beach was closed because of COVID last year, so we were really looking forward to this visit, and after we walked all the way down the trail, we found that, surprise, the beach was closed.
This was infuriating, because there were no signs indicating this at the start of the sandy trail, and as we walked back to the parking lot, we encountered a ranger who told us the beach had been closed "for the last five years," which was flatly wrong.

You start out in the sand going through marsh lands and there’s a trail that goes around the marshlands or you can go forward to the beach climb over a large dune and you are now on the beach with the ocean. Early in the season, they fence off an area for the oyster catchers which nest there. You walk towards the lighthouse and you can walk all the way down or there’s a trail that goes back up to some lakes where you can see lots of beautiful ducks. However, the trails and center are open starting the beginning of April and have activities during the spring/summer months. Check it out, very educational.
