The Buddy Holly Center is a must-see cultural spot in Lubbock! It's important to distinguish between the original Buddy Holly Center(a museum in the Depot Entertainment District) and the new Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences(a major live event venue). A fascinating and well-curated museum that is an absolute must-visit for any music fan to learn about Buddy Holly's short, but world-changing, career and his massive influence on rock and roll history! The Buddy Holly Center is an essential stop in Lubbock. The exhibits are incredibly interesting, featuring genuine artifacts like his iconic glasses and guitars. Don't forget to check out the J.J. Golding house next door and the Buddy Holly statue across the street—it's a perfect blend of music history and local heritage." A highly enjoyable and educational stop in the Depot District! The museum is housed in a nicely refurbished building and offers a captivating look at Buddy Holly's life, complete with memorabilia and a clear timeline of his influence. It's a great experience that honors a Lubbock...

It was clean and well organized, and the staff were very friendly. However, it's a pretty uninteresting place unless you harbor a strong interest in music history, rock history, or Buddy Holly. They have two very small galleries relating to Buddy Holly that have lots of items and info, but as I said they are very, very small. There is also a third fine arts gallery, though I didn't get the chance to look at that one. As of June 2017 admission for adults is $8 per person, and I include that info here for others to see because I couldn't find it posted anywhere on their Facebook and their actual website doesn't seem to be working. Be forewarned: there is no photography allowed inside of the actual galleries.

Also, it's not a great idea to bring kids under 12 here...they aren't going to care about the exhibits and they just wind up putting fingerprints on the glass and getting in the way of the adults actually trying to look at the displays. There's really nothing interactive or interesting for...

I wouldn't have gone here except that I went to the Silent Wings museum first and found that it's half off Buddy Holly if I show them my receipt from Silent Wings. Which made it even more affordable at $5. First of all, the building used to be a train depot, then a restaurant, and now it's the Buddy Holly Center. Inside is a small museum, mainly one room, with items from his childhood, his guitars, his motorcycle, even his iconic glasses recovered from the famous plane crash that killed him. It's a LOT of reading inside, I suggest watching the film in the small theater to the left first. Then there's another room to the right with some of his old furniture and loads of letters to & from other famous musicians - Elton John, Dolly Parton, and Paul McCartney all make appearances. It's very interesting! Definitely worth $5-10. You can't take pictures inside, but there is a statue of him...

If you're a Buddy Holly, this is a must. There is a statue across the road from the museum, a building with wall art dedicated to Buddy. You get a tour around a small house belonging to one of Buddy's friends, who was one of the crickets, and they wrote a few of their songs there. The museum itself is definitely worth a visit, lots of information to read, pictures, and items to look at. A few minutes drive away is the cemetery where Buddy and his family are buried, nothing fancy, it's quite a humble grave. If you're doing a tour along the 66 I would definitely recommend a stop of for a couple of hours
