We enjoyed a fabulous dinner here around 5:30 on 7/18 while celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. We were warmly welcomed and immediately seated upon arrival. I had made reservations on yelp, but the place was pretty empty when we showed up. It filled up fast around 6:30 though, so definitely make reservations if you dine later in the evening. We ordered from the zero proof refreshers menu, which was fantastic. We were so glad there were nonalcoholic options here! We ended up trying the palomita blanca, the red berry sour, and the baby blue. Which were all fantastic, but the sour was the best, even though I had to be talked into ordering it since it mentioned containing egg whites. Don’t be afraid to try it! It’s awesome. For our appetizers, we got the crab hush puppies, which were crisp on the outside and filled with moist juicy crab, served on top of a delightful remoulade, and the grilled bobwhite quail, which was expertly prepared on top of crispy brussels and bacon drizzled with yummy honey. Next we moved on to our soup and salad. The southwest corn chowder was smooth with deep rich flavors, and the house salad was one of the best I’ve had with all fresh greens lightly dressed with a bright vinaigrette and really pops with the crunchy pecans and tart raspberries. We then were served our entrees. The pan seared shrimp and the seared duck breast. Both were cooked perfectly. The shrimp were on a bed of fluffy risotto with delightful bits of basil throughout, and the duck rested on a mountain of delectable garlicky stir fried noodles. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we savored a scrumptious warm skillet cookie covered in cool vanilla ice cream which complemented my after dinner coffee wonderfully. Overall, we absolutely enjoyed our meal and had a...
Read moreWow. There is a lot of positive hype around this place and I think some of it is well deserved. The food and drinks were top tier for Lubbock standards and probably on par with middle level culinary establishments in Dallas/Austin/Houston. The biggest let down on the night I dined here for a birthday celebration was the abysmal service and lack of attention to detail when it came to front and back of house food/drink expo. The day I came the phone lines and entire POS system was down which caused massive delays in getting seated and being assigned a waiter. My server didn't come to our table for more than 20 minutes and the hostess had to bring us water at the 15 minute mark as we were ignored in a dining room at less than 75% capacity. When the server did come to take our order, she told that the dinner service would be portioned out and that the drinks and food should be ordered all at once. I was trying to order appetizers first due to the service delay I had experienced and she said that West Table typically frowns upon that practice. My party and I eventually ordered and our drinks came out at different times, more than 15-20 minutes apart, with one guest being done with their first cocktail before another guest even had a chance to receive their first drink. There were food delays, inattentive service, no offers to help clear our table of reasonable food debris between courses, and no replenishing of fresh plates that we were using to share appetizers. I was very disappointed and the experience was a true let down. In my experience this establishment charges a luxury price but doesn't offer tantamount service...
Read moreMy partner got super sick after eating the lamb. When he told his sister about it she immediately guessed that it was the lamb because a friend had a similar experience. I didn't have the lamb so I didn't get sick I guess. My food was okay, but it didn't taste like anything out of the ordinary. I feel like I could have gotten something similar at Lazy Dog and I wouldn't have paid as much. But that's just my opinion. The service was great. Our waitress was very kind and made sure to update us on the status of our food without us even having to ask. But what I absolutely hated about this place was the occustics. It was impossible to have a conversation. This may be due to the fact the the restaurant was a little crowded, or that they were playing music over all the talking. All these things are to be expected at a restaurant. But what I think the real issue is the size of the restaurant. It's a relatively small space. Tables were significantly close to one another, and I imagine that all the noise was bouncing off the concrete pillars scattered around. But I'm not sure if anything can be done about any of that. Over all the place was ok. Not Okay! Just ok. It wasn't really worth the price. I wouldn't recommend going there for a first date, or expecting to have a meaningful conversation with your friends. If you want to try it out I recommend going when it's not too busy, and STEER CLEAR OF THE LAMB. While there's a lot of things I would change, I believe this place has potential, or maybe I'm just a grouchy person. Figure it out for yourself if you...
