I've been coming to Town & Country for many years now. I have had the chance to experience almost everything this park has to offer. It is the nicest park in Madera.
Aside from the playground that most parks revolve around this park has many many attractions. There are several baseball fields and two snack bars for when there are games being played. The park always seems to get really busy during baseball season. Although baseball is the most played sport at this park there are also other sports that can be played. There is a section for volleyball in the sand with surrounding tables that can be reserved. As well as a Disc Golf Course that is fairly new. There is also plenty of room for people to play a game of soccer or football.
This park is a great place to go for morning jogs or dog walks. There is a huge trail that tours you through the park and over a couple of beautiful red arched bridges. There will be benches along the trail so don't worry about getting tired! The large duck pond is a wonderful place to hang out at and the birds and ducks are friendly and almost always present. The park has lots and lots of green grass and small hills and large trees that really give the park character. Overall the park is well kept and there are trash cans strategically placed throughout.
Lots of other activities can also be done here such as birthday party's at the canopy style seating area near the playground which has a convenient restroom. There are several BBQ pits throughout the outskirts of the park as well as a total of 4 clean restrooms. One of the coolest part of the park is the outdoor stage area which has been host to many local bands as well as an occasional "movie in the park" night where they will put a movie on a projector as locals view the screening from the grassy hill which serves as a type of stadium seating.
Unfortunately, there seems to be one ongoing problem and that is the lack of police enforcement or security for the park. I have witnessed several fights between people as well as drag races, drug dealing, and other inappropriate things that shouldn't be done at a local community park. Apparently this park has been notorious for such actives which leads me to question the lack of presence from authorities.
This is an amazing park that has come along way and I really hope that our community can preserve this area and that our officers can assist us in doing so. I hope everyone has a great time enjoying the scenery and activities this park in Madera...
Read moreI first visited here in the year 1980, when I was about 12-13 years of age. I really started to enjoy the newly opened fitness course therein, it was right for me, although, there was a much longer walk and back I was able to do, high and low, meaning one was east of there, and one was west of there. I firmly believe these long walks were critical to my internal development: I mention this knowing that I am the one who has spent many cramping ups inside a car in the years before and after the year 1980. These cramping ups were inside vehicles from California to Oklahoma, many times. I remain on my own, even now at age 53, and if I had lived my life any other way, I would not be here, living the life, now in Bakersfield, CA., U.S.A..
Well, this review is about Lions Town & Country Park, and even though I was never able to have a place of my very own constructed, and made affordable AND IN Madera, California, U.S.A., I like the thoughts on making a second Town & Country Lions Park, same exact size, fitness course included.
A lion can be sneaky, a lion can be found out, and once he is, he gets outsmarted, but it is time for wisdom here, and that which cannot be seen. A.K.A. it is time to TURN THE TABLES, plans to think make a second Town & Country Lions Park, turntables will make all think when they are unseen, and essentially a constituent of a new...
Read moreBeautiful park. Has gravel and paved trails to walk or jog. Lots of shade to relax in. Has a medium size pond and canals, not always filled since CA is in a drought. Has volleyball sand pits, baseball fields, enough space to play soccer when fields aren't being used by baseball teams. Has several bathrooms. Has a playground on one side of park. Two/three areas to host small -medium sized parties; only one area has a roof. Also has a small theater which has had small local concerts...
