Steenbock Memorial Library — Attraction in Madison

Steenbock Memorial Library is a pretty good spot for studying, especially for UW–Madison students. One big convenience is that the bus stop is located right next to the building, making it very accessible.

The library hours are great during the Fall and Spring semesters, but do note that during the summer, it closes early — around 5 PM on weekdays. Inside, there are multiple monitor setups available; you can simply plug in your device and get to work, which is super helpful for productivity.

I've been going here since 1980, for studying as a student, and getting my own research done for my curiosity and volunteer work. It is a great resource for the UW campus, and via Community Borrowing Cards, for the average citizen. I went there often when collecting resources for my job with the USDA, Cereal Crops Research Unit. As a Plant Biologist/Biological Research Technician, Steenbock is an invaluable research tool. This is one of my favorite study spots on the UW Madison campus. Group studying in the first floor rooms is great when you make a reservation, the computers on the main floor are super useful, and the fourth floor is silent.
