The Paoli Memorial Association owns the 23 acres of gravesite, memorials and parade grounds where volunteers trained for the 1812, Mexican and Civil Wars. This property adjoins the 40 acre aoli Battlefield Historical Park & Paoli Memorial Grounds owned by the Borough of Malvern.
The first monument installed here is a stone monument erected in 1817 , on the burial mound of 53 American soldiers who lost their lives in the battle. On the 100th anniversary of the Battle in 1877, a larger granite obelisk was erected. The obelisk is flanked by canons recovered a century after they were hidden from the British at nearby Chester County iron forges. If you have an interest in history well worth the visit and bring your dog for they will enjoy it too!! And when you are finished stop in town on King Street and have a great pulled pork sandwich at The Flying Pig!!! Well worth it they have other great sandwich n meal choices too. Shepherd's Pie my favorite...
