The Bathrooms, which we went to, are located all the way, at the end of the flea market, in a small blue building. We met a very nice woman, by the name of Alice , she is in charge of cleaning the bathrooms. As a woman, I can say, that women are pigs in the bathrooms, and I was not looking forward to using the bathrooms at a flea market, when nicer areas, were shockingly grotesque! Nevertheless, we needed the use of the bathrooms and after each woman was finished with using the toilet stall, Alice, went in with gloves to clean up after each use, therefore, I and my friend were, both very impressed of how clean the stalls were. Alice didn't waste a moment and even, cleaned her hands, to provide my friend with paper, to clean her hands with when she was finished with washing her hands. Before I washed my hands I already grabbed paper to dry my hands and asked my friend to hold down the cold water push button, so that I could wash my hands, when finished, I cleaned the water which splashed around the water basin and Alice stated, " Ma'am, you don't need to do that, that's my job". I told her that my mother has taught me, to always clean up after myself, no matter where I was, and that includes the bathroom and basin, even if there is someone there to clean up after me. I told Alice that I was extremely impressed with how clean the women's bathroom was and what a nice suprise it was because women are pigs -it's absolutely unbelievable why women can pick toilet paper off the floor, which they dropped, putting tampons, or pads in bins, without properly wrapping them up in toilet paper or putting them in the individual envelopes specifically for these things . Englishtown flea market, is absolutely lucky to have Alice as part of there team, leaving the bathrooms fresh smelling, clean and spotless.Prior to this, our first interaction was with a South American woman that came from Portugal and on the same path a woman from the once country of Yugoslavia who had beautiful crocheted items. There was also a wonderful experience we had and that was sharing the best cheese fries, with homemade lemonade but they also had fresh orange juice which was similar to the lemonade. After enjoying that and everyone at that place of business, was extremely friendly and hospitable, we decided to share a funnel cake. I personally need to have coffee when eating anything that is close to a cake and asked the woman at the business, directly across from the fresh potato fries and lemonade, if she had fresh coffee which I could have with my funnel cake. She said that the coffee is fairly fresh but she would make a new pot for me if I wanted a cup of coffee. I wanted just a small coffee and she was kind enough to make a fresh pot of coffee just so I could enjoy the funnel cake, which was delicious, including the fried Oreo cookie, which was also delicious, as was the fresh coffee which the owner put the cream in my cup until I was satisfied with the color and also poured in sugar for me. We had a wonderful time at the flea market and due to these people, all of them, unfortunately I did not ask the names of the people where we had the fries and the funnel cake, but will do the next time I am there and I will also find out in which bldg. they are in. I believe it's a green building, and all one has to do is ask is "Where is the fresh lemonade located" ? -everyone knows exactly where to direct you. You will have just a lovely, enjoyable time.*Oh, and how can I forget to mention the Vietnamese man which my friend and I met and purchased beautiful reasonably priced, keychains, as well as a lucky cat, whose arm waves back and forth, not by battery but by solar methods. We had such a wonderful time, speaking with him about various things and he was such a kind man, which spoke to us in between his customers - he works with his wife. The moment I find his business card I will post all of the missing information, which I have left out by mistake. We had a wonderful time and meeting such kind, wonderful people made our day...
Read moreI got to explore the Englishtown Flea Market for the first time Saturday. There was plenty of free parking which I loved because I hate struggling to find parking. I didn't plan on purchasing anything when I went because I didn't have any cash on me so my plan was to just walk around and to see what type of vendors they had and come back with my family. Lucky enough while browsing and looking around I did happen to see a few things I liked and I purchased from four different vendors without having cash. I simply just asked whether they had any other form of payment and 3 of them allowed me to Zelle them and another vendor I used a credit card (tap). I say still have some cash on hand just in case but it did seem like some of the vendors allow cashless payments. I saw vendors selling makeup, clothing, jewelry, food, and other miscellaneous random items. The flea market is both inside and outside. This flea market is definitely bigger than the Avenel Flea Market. As for pricing I guess it depends on what you believe is fair for flea market pricing. I brought a Hello Kitty Stanley Tumbler for $25 from one vendor. I brought a black wrap dress for $20. I brought a pair of comfy pants for $18 and then 2 matching set for $45. I feel like at this flea market there is opportunities for haggling if you are good at it. I didn't do it this time around. Maybe I'll give it some effort next time. But of course, if something is too outrageously priced, I just wouldn't buy it. I definitely will be back to see what other...
Read moreWhile visiting a Friend in New Jersey, we went to the flea market. I've been to flea markets and also sold items at flea markets. I wasn't sure what I would find and it was also still chilly when we went. I would probably give 5 stars if it was peak season. I was told there weren't as many vendors since it was still late March.
There is something there for everyone. My friend had never been to a flea market so she was a bit overwhelmed. There was fresh fruit, nuts, food, all types of electronics, clothing, shoes, luggage, natural oils, jewelry, you name it. There were name brand items and items that didn't have brand names.
I bought some natural oils and the vendor gave me a free sample of shea butter from Ghana. I also bought some sunglasses, with one pair being Gucci knockoffs for $5. I am not sure if you can haggle (ask for a lower price) on items, because the prices seemed fair to me.
Many of the rows have street names, ,so it's easy to remember where a booth if you need to come back. There is also an inside area for vendors. I was told during the winter months most vendors are inside and when it gets warm they come outside. I hope to go back the next time I visit Jersey.
Don't forget to stop by Patosa Ravioli on Union Hill Road in Manalapan Township ( I wrote a review) on your way to the flea market or on your way back home.
