Honestly, never have I had to jump through so many hoops with professors, and staff members to get answers that should be straight forward and told to me on the spot. Nearly every professor I have had to deal with has sent me the run around on finding answers for my problems that I can't seem to find on my own. From being sent from one professor to the next to just be sent right back to the same professor I was just with. Or I have professors and staff members respond to me in such a way that is honestly very disrespectful and leads to no answers to some of the most mundane of questions, such as a simple question as if we have class or not from an unexpected schedule change from the professor themselves. In this case I would have just preferred no response rather than rudely told to go find someone else for the answer that could easily just been answered with a simple yes or no response. I would transfer out of this college immediately if I wasn't already a year in and stuck not knowing if credits will transfer to other colleges for other programs within the field of study I am taking as when I transferred down to MNSU Mankato I was told that taking a certain class at my current college would transfer and apply directly to the degree I was taking only to be lied to about the class. It did not apply to my degree and to add insult to injury I could have taken a class that would have directly applied to my degree instead. I would highly recommend staying as far away from this University as possible as they not only not help you as a student answer question concerning your degree and credits, but professors are rude and will make you do the whole run around. So if you are looking for a University that is willing to help you get a degree and get into the real world, look somewhere else because I thought I would be getting out of college at a reasonable time (2 years for a Bachelor Degree not including my years at my original college for my Associates Degree) its now going to be almost roughly 3 to 4 years before I get a Bachelor...
Read moreMSU Mankato is a terrible University that showed no respect towards my time and money. I originally started as an Aviation Major only for this university to force me into a different degree that was a complete scam. When I lived on-campus for a semester, I was told within the end of the semester that I had to move out and had no other choice because they had limited space and wanted to bring in new students. Hello? I am a new student here! Most professors in the uni. are sub-par in their teaching ability and only here to work their job and not teach. There was a professor in the aviation dept. that ranted more about politics than to teach the class itself. We are forced to take his class because of the program requirement. This is a waste of money! The aviation program is also a waste of money because you are paying far more than you would to a flight training center. Not only you're paying Northstar Aviation their share, you also have to pay the university their royalties. This school is party school and a high school at the same time, only difference is you're being defrauded. There is absolute no integrity nor respect at all and lack of professionalism at this university. The dorms are overpriced, disgusting, old, rundown, and make your skin crawl because of the amount of filth, human slime, and mold that ended up giving me health complications and multiple visits to the hospital. Every roommate I've lived with never flushed, cleaned up after themselves, and expected someone else to look after them as if they were living with their parents. Any complaint I've sent to Reslife went unnoticed and they simply don't care. This University mismanages and wastefully spends the students money on things that it baffles my mind how they didn't grab the attention of the federal government for waste, fraud, and abuse. Don't attend this university! With the 18% tuition hike they're going to implement soon. Your money and time is spent better elsewhere. You will not get a...
Read moreThis post is regarding our son who attended Mn St. University Mankato. He made a life decision to continue his further education at University of Madison who offered the courses aligning with his field. We had plenty of time to plan his exit strategy as he was first year living in the dorms, i called to specifically get the final payment amount due to include room and meal plan. They informed me our son is notifying them in the window allowed meaning no additional tuition was due, i then specifically called the dorm/meal office and requested any amounts due for room and board. Again they stated everything was paid and he needed to have his dorm cleared by a certain date which we complied with, (he was coming off the holiday break) well over a year later i get a letter from Mn Dept of Revenue trying to collect a balance? My son and i immediately called the University and literally got played between the 2 offices, the first is student assistance with class enrollment- the second deals with dorm and meal service. We were told the student service side office was so short handed they we unable to send notifications of this sort for almost a year and were just doing so. When we were informed the small balance was for room and board we were transferred to this office, evening thou they know he was no longer on campus with dorm emptied they billed him for 1 final week to include meals. They need full accountability for their lack of communication between the 2 offices, they made it extremely clear their computer systems are not set-up to notify each other what takes place with students. Again we called both offices when we knew he was moving on, this is a learning lesson for my Son that even a University can be broken with it's processes!...
