This was a great beach to visit with dogs. There were other well-behaved dogs and respectful owners. We visited at a time that was warm but very windy. There were a lot of cars around but when on the beach you could get the experience of being in your own space pretty easily - it wasn't packed. The parking was in a long row of spots which were perpendicular to the beach, and there was a parking lot as well, plenty of spaces. One of the things I liked best about this beach was the sand itself. According to someone else's review, it is made of small pebbles of jasper, jade and agate. In some areas the little smooth pebbles were the same as a grain of sand but in other areas they were big enough to see clearly. Walking on the larger pebbles felt really good on the feet also ✨ When you take the exit, which is the last exit before Golden Gate Bridge (heading south through Marin County on 101), just drive and drive, and the beach is at the end. It looked like there were lots of other interesting things to see along the way down that road. I would have stopped but I don't think they were appropriate...
Read moreWonderful hidden beach away from the crowds of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Plenty of spaces for picnicking, surfing, beach lounging, hiking in the hills, and sightseeing. Water is beautiful, plenty of restrooms, plenty of free parking, and barbecue areas.
[The Beach] The beach is roughly a mile or two long but plenty of space for people to spread out. We went during a nice weekend and it wasn't busy at all. People weren't swimming because it was somewhat cold outside but plenty of surfers! The water is nice and blue from above as well! Restrooms are available as well as showers.
[The Location] Getting here can be kind of tricky. If coming from the Bay Area, you'll need to pass the Golden Gate bridge and take the loop to get here through the tunnel and hills. It's about 20 minutes from the Golden Gate bridge. When you get here, there is plenty of parking! I wouldn't worry about that. There is plenty of hiking trails on the way here as well as right next to the beach! It's...
Read moreTook my team to volunteer to do a beach clean up as part of our company initiative to give back. The beach was surprisingly clean of unnatural debris, but we still picked up a lot of trash but expected more. The sand was a bit coarse and rather packed so walking with a tennis shoe was fine.
Most goers were surfers but we went on an August Summer on a Friday, 10am - 2pm so there were not many people and was not windy. Next to the parking lot, on the north end there were 6 picnic tables and bathrooms which made it ideal to host a team picnic. The picnic area was clean and there were plenty of parking lot.
Cellular coverage on AT&T is quite bad with less than 1 bar. There are no food or stores close by so bring everything you think...
