It’s a shame what my childhood theater has become. Literally falling apart with no renovations, yet the prices keep going up.
The seats are stiff. The auditoriums smell weird. Staff need to learn some theater etiquette. They are in such a hurry to clean, they turn on the house lights mid-credits and start sweeping around us while we’re still sitting there. If your movie has a post-credits scene, forget about seeing it in the dark. Unless it’s a Marvel movie. Apparently that’s all they’ve been trained for.
Brightness on certain projectors need adjusted, as we can hardly see what’s going on. Some screens aren’t even properly framed for different aspect ratios, so the top, bottom, and sides are always cut off, which is super annoying. Not to mention the flickering lights in the very back auditorium (I haven’t been in that specific auditorium in around 6 months, so it’s possible that issue has been fixed).
I used to love it here, but the moviegoing experience has become so unsatisfying. I’m not expecting them to fix any of this anytime soon. Sad to see it...
Read moreTheaters are a dying industry with the rise of technology unfortunately, but having this theater is still able to be a presence in Marion is a great asset. The ticket prices are reflective of this and also their atmosphere. I’m thankful that they still exist; the atmosphere as a whole is not near as good as you’d get elsewhere, and it is not modernized, but if you’re into movies and love the theater experience, they are still a fairly good option. Seating isn’t recognizably comfortable but it does give nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. If you were a kid in the 90s or 00s, this gives that experience another shot.
Any time we/I have gone, the staff is often very friendly. I appreciate this. Their snack options are fairly vast for what they’re able to do, and if the popcorn is fresh, it’s very good.
It’s not my first choice in cinemas, but living in Marion, I have gone a good amount of times and...
Read moreWatched Wonder Woman here a month ago. It had proper lighting, sound, cushioned seats and overall a pleasant experience. However, just went to watch Spider-man and it was scheduled in a different screen or viewing room than the previous. The seats were tiny and uncomfortable, I was sitting with some friends and immediately noticed a spotlight on the ceiling that was aimed directly at my face. I ignored it at first thinking they would shut it off after the movie had begun, but alas, it remained on through the entire picture. I had to create a makeshift "bill" using my hands to block the light which eventually gave me a sore wrist and ending with a headache from trying to see through the light. I guess my advice would be to find out which room your movie is showing before going, they lack consistency when it comes to the various...
