I usually give all Ren faires 5 stars, this is the first time I have to drop a review. Whoever is running their Facebook page needs to learn basic customer service and not make snarky remarks when a person asks an actual question. There was a storm that had rolled in and the question was if the faire was still going as many of us were waiting for a train to pass. (In this area the trains can sit blocking the entire area for up to 6 hours, however it's typically 45 minutes.) The question was asked as there was another festival going on and if the faire was closed due to rain, then we wouldn't wait for the train. All the person needed to say was "yes we're open!" Or anything along those lines. Adding the part about them not controlling the trains was completely unnecessary. Luckily I didn't see it while waiting the hour and 10 minutes for the train to move.
The fair itself wasn't laid out all that well. Vendors were laid out in strange rows, but where backs faced one way and other ways. With the number of vendors, they could have gone for a circular layout to be more approachable. The food vendors didn't match up to what was advertised and were far from professional, which would be okay if they were in character, but they weren't. The guild actors tried, but when you don't have people making it emmersive from the tickets to food to vendors... it makes the vibe more of a craft fair over a ren faire.
I probably would have gone back again with my group and gave ot another chance, but after getting that snarky fb response, I think we're all good on going to that one. There are other ones we can go to instead. I'm sure it won't impact them, but hopefully someone can tell the person that being snarky...
Read moreThis is a wonderful fantasy renaissance they had everything good food, wild woodland creatures, several fairies , even a midievil Munk with a giant cross . For 5$ you could have a friend arrested and paraded though town in shackles by the magistrates. The bar had real mead . The ponies with carts rides. Real knight battles ,jousting and archery on horseback with authentic log chairs all over. Pirate weekend was fun and ther were even furrys. It's in a new location in a naborhood with alot of old homes and trailers but they did a great job of blocking that off so once your in side it's a new world. The amazing artistry was very often custom made to order. The black Smith was cool. The shops were a treasure trove of different things puzzles, hand cast dragons, 3d print moving dragons and leather boots shaped to your foot. I have seen the negative reviews and can't help but notice that two of them have the same last name. My reviews are usually a bit shorter but I wanted to let you guys know my experience here and I'm going to be back next May for as many days as I can because I believe in supporting local communities and this event helps ogden and will only get...
Read moreThe set up of the fair is great this year. They have soap making, armor making, games, food, a beer/mead garden, equestrian games, pony rides, puppies and much more! The grass is wonderful, no mud! The entertainment is great, I saw a magic show, singers, harpist, face painters, and dancers. But I know I missed a bunch. The weather prevented the horse demonstration in the evening, but the morning demo was great! The price for entry is only $12 for adults, $6 for kids. Which is way inexpensive. I paid $35 per person, 5 in my family ($175 just to go in), last year at another renaissance festival. Maybe if they charged more they could make it even bigger and better. But then people would...
