I've been here a few times to paddle board. Today might be my last time. Even though I tried to stay along the shore (not too close as this lake can be really shallow) I could not get away from the row teams that came out after I was out there a bit- there were four together and two coaches on boats-and I did my best to avoid them: stopping for a bit, getting closer to shore, etc. One of the coaches in a motorized boat made sure he went fairly fast while getting close to me (twice) creating a considerable wake. They all got well in front of me along the shore and sat there for a while and I wouldn't have been able to avoid them along the shore so I waited for a bit before deciding to go straight across to the boating dock area so I could leave. Of course, after getting out there a bit, they decided to go out towards me and I had to circle back and go around again to reach the dock. It felt like I was being harassed. I am an older woman and was by myself. The shouting over the bullhorn wasn't fun either. This time and the previous there was many dead fish floating in the water, probably from the motorized boats the coaches use! Also, I wouldn't advise going paddling if the wind is blowing over 12mph, the shallow lake can get...

Read moreMy morning started with the rude awakening from a nightmare world where William Shatner failed to serenade us with Rocketman. I found a pillow had been thrown with my head, this not being an unusual occurrence, I rolled over. However the other long tern occupant of the apartment insisted that I get up and stop making both excesses and bad jokes about working out taste buds is the equivalent to a gym workout. So, against my will, I found myself in the car at the crack of dawn, blasting Beastie Boys on the way to Creve Couer Lake Park.
I navigated the twisting roads to the lake, parked near the pristine bathrooms on the northeast side and so began our leisurely stroll around the lake. What started as a pleasant hike turned into a grueling march for one of us, but the park's beauty made it all worth it. After nearly two hours, we completed the long circuit, and I was finally allowed to return home, shower, and collapse back into bed. Ah, the adventures of a...
