One of my favorite places. So happy to come back and enjoy. But prepare yourself for a long ride to get here and a long trail going up the mountain. It’s not for all. It’s about 2 hrs and it’s a rocky climb up. My daughter started the trail and had to go back down. But you get to see a huge Banyan tree, a beautiful bamboo forest and an amazing waterfall at the end. The bamboo forest is my favorite. I have been here in August and December months. It’s prettier in the summer of course. But less hot in the winter to climb up. It’s a magical serene place. The rustling winds against the bamboo. The bamboo starts to rattle against each other and make this calming noise. And walking through this forest surrounded by green bamboo is just one of my all time favorite activities. It renews my soul. A must if you’re a...

Report any violation and scarring/tagging on the tree to authorities.

We must all do our part to help support the continued growth of these natural wonders. Hoping everyone gets a chance to stop by, rest, and take some pictures before you continue on your way to...

If you hike the Pipiwai Trail, you will pass this amazing banyan tree, the 2nd largest banyan tree in Hawaii. It is an absolute gigantic banyan tree – with a footprint the size of a decent-sized house! Over years, a banyan’s aerial prop roots form into new trunks of their own, expanding continually outward. Looking at this tree in front of you, with new trunks sprouted out along the far-reaching branches, ever further from their source, you can see why Hinduism considers the banyan the symbol of eternal life. If you’re a tree climber (or you have some in-tow like I usually do) you’ll be spending more than a couple minutes...
