The museum was awesome! Tickets were $7-$8 each, but I would have paid twice that. We went Saturday afternoon and there were only a few other groups there. Although they occasionally hold events, weddings, and parties on the grounds. The grounds house two historic buildings with temporary and permanent exhibits to walk through, handmade metal art to purchase, and an outdoor sculptural garden to walk through. But the best part was the foundry and blacksmith buildings. You can go right in and those working will visit with you and answer questions. On Saturdays and Sundays (I think at 1:30pm), the metal workers do live demonstrations of their craft. I wouldn't recommend the indoor exhibits for children. There are lots of things you can't touch. But outside in the gardens and in the workshops are awesome for all ages! I will bring my children on...

Wow, you go to "Metal Museum" thinking that you are going to see useful Metal implements that have been made by skill craftsman to serve some purpose. First, there is mainly nik naks made that serve no purpose other than to wonder why the person made it. Then a full one third of the Museum is devoted to LGPT....etc etc etc exhibits that I can only wonder why takes up this much space in a small museum and why such a politically charged exhibit is so prominent. I don't care to have a political message from either side pushed on me when I visit a Metal museum. They make it clear if you are not politically aligned with the museum you are NOT welcomed here. A blacksmith exhibit at an amusement park or fair is much more enjoyable and informative that...

What a treasure! It's located just above the Mississippi river in the French Fort District. It's adjacent to the former Marine Residence that is being renovated into upscale rental units. There are three buildings that are open. Two are former homes that contain a wide array of traveling exhibits as well as permanent collections. There is also a foundry where apprentice metal workers serving internships demonstrate the art as they create commissioned pieces. The price of admission is very reasonable - but the Groupon we got made it even more so. There are also a number of sculptures on the grounds. Be sure to look closely at the entrance gates as they are a beautiful...

Best field trip ever! Our Artist group booked a 24K Gold tour. Worth every penny. We had a guided tour of the collection and grounds and then went to the foundry where each of us made an aluminum tile. This was a fascinating process and we each created our own keepsake of this memorable visit. The tour needs to be booked and paid ahead of time and you must have at least 4 people in the group. Well worth the money. So informative and the experience should be on every bucket list. I will be returning with my family in the future.

What an incredible jewel of this city. An amazing place to see awesome art and sculptures and learn what people are doing with metal. There is a casting room, a blacksmith shop, and several buildings with exhibits. Savannah, James, and Jake did a great job job sharing about the casting room and blacksmith shops and were super engaging. I was able to watch Savannah and Jake poor aluminum for a small dish and prepare the mold and everything. Very cool. I can’t wait to go back.
