Definitely a scary and rough place. . My family and I took the trip down to see the river so low. We decided to drive over to Mud island. I had never been before and it looked pretty nice from the parking lot to the stage area. (Except the homeless guy camping in the restroom area asking if I smoked reefer) so needless to say that was the not so pleasant part.
After that nice meeting we went down to the Memphis sign and the area where there’s usually a fountain or wading area. My son decided he wanted to walk down the rivers bank and try to find some artifacts. My family and I climbed down to the rivers edge where after a few minutes maybe 20 or so a strange man decided to follow us down there and try to make conversation in a pushy odd kind of way. During this conversation I could see my wife was getting very uncomfortable. So I made It known to him I wanted him to leave us alone. This made the man stand there awkwardly and get a little more aggressive. Please be ready and careful in ALL WAYS when going to Memphis. I was!!! When you are at this place in the off season be extra careful and watch your surroundings. Memphis is a very scary place. This could and might have gone very poorly if I wasn’t “ready for anything” There are police cameras in a couple areas but not on the rivers edge. The construction of the place is nice and I’m sure that it’s nice during the summer season. But I do not recommend going there during the offseason unless you can...
Read moreOnly came to take pics by the Memphis sign which it was a needle and a haystack to find! Well it’s definitely not something you can see from the parking lot, you have to pay to park in the lot I went to (and please pay because when I pulled in there was a woman in a company truck patrolling the lot taking pics of folks license plates which I’m not sure how they can tell who paid or not because it’s not like you received a receipt or anything to place on your dash… Once you park there’s about a 8-10 minute walk before you actually reach the sign. Thanks to the Bass Pro pyramid we saw the Memphis sign perfectly so it was easy to hop in the car and drive to the location. Once the sign was located we had a picnic because the weather was nice. I highly recommend for...
Read moreThis place is a dump! Everything you Google or search engine you use to find something to do in Memphis with kids it talked about this place like it was magnificent! It's not!!!! The water in the pool/splash area was so nasty. The water in the replica Mississippi River feature was nasty and dirty. There was no workers/security anywhere to be seen. The place was run down and not being kept up. I could tell at one time it was probably a very happening and great place but it appears no longer that way. It's so sad bc u can tell they probably spent millions and millions of dollars on the creation of the island and its falling apart. Do not recommend going...
