This is an amazing venue nestled in the heart of the Lakes Region in New Hampshire. Offering an outstanding theatrical experience with their professional company year round, the playhouse is a hub thriving and pulsing with activities. On any given day in the summer, there are workshops, classes, camps, educational symposiums, pre-show "how'd they do that" set tours, post-show talk-backs with the cast and crew, and of course amazingly entertaining and thought provoking performances. In addition to their professional company, the Winnipesaukee Playhouse also has a thriving community theater company with several opportunities to perform, or help backstage throughout the year. From spooky radio theater in the fall, to musicals in the spring, and everything in between, they're always here to entertain you. Not ready for the stage yet? The Winnipesaukee Playhouse also has an amazing education department. Our children have participated in classes, camps, and plays throughout our years in the Lakes Region. The staff is simply amazing; professional, patient educators with a flare for the dramatic. The Winnipesaukee Playhouse Education Department may not have specific "autism" classes, workshops or camps, instead our autistic son is fully integrated into their programs; classes, camps and performances. Here is a sampling of what we've seen in the 4 years of our son's (14) involvement in theater: increased eye contact, better able to identify his own emotions and talk about them with us, increased focus and memory skills, increased social skills and developed friendships. Drama has been such a gift and blessing to our whole family, but especially to our special needs son and we are forever grateful to the staff (past and present) of The Winnipesaukee Playhouse for their instruction, patience, and encouragement. Our son has never been treated as "less than" for his disabilities, instead, he's been given the tools to shine! I don't have enough good things to say about theater education and it's benefits for all children, especially those who struggle with social anxiety and alexithymia (inability to identify and describe emotions). If you are local and looking for quality extracurricular activities for your children, consider developing a relationship with The Winnipesaukee Playhouse Education Department and watch your...
Read moreOn a multi-state adventure three friends and I started in Pennsylvania and ended up at this Playhouse to see a dear and darling friend of ours in a play that I believe is called Look Who's Coming to Dinner. It was three hours of intense emotion built around the concept of racism on many different levels. Wow and tackled issues that were based and the 70s it could have just as well been written today. The acting was phenomenal the staging was great the lighting was wonderful. Everything about it was done well. What moved me and allowed me to be stuck and some sort of non-visible incarcerated environment was at intermission when an older woman who does not share the same pigment as I do stands and says to her family sitting with her that this play could not have been written today. In 45s America the duplicity of our divided has become so blatant. If this is making America great again I would hate to see what horse looks like. My heart breaks for the racial divide that our nation has seen in the recent years. Thank you to this Playhouse for tackling and not being afraid of issues that would provoke feelings and emotions of all kind. Keep moving forward and reminding us that we are all one...
Read moreAlways a great performance at the Winnipesakee playhouse !! I have been to many performances over the past 3 or 4 years and I have never been disappointed. The cast and crew give 100% every time, the plays are great, and the cost is extremely low. The shows each run for about a week to ten days and they perform year round. There are matinees end night performances weekdays and weekends.
If you live or play in the lakes region this is a must do activity. Way more entertaining than going to a movie theatre but the time and exspense is about the same. Try it and you will not regret it, in fact I bet you will like it so much that you will go...
