For anyone who enjoys history, I would recommend a visit to the final resting place of William Henry Harrison. The tomb is located in the small community of North Bend on the banks of the Ohio River several miles west of Cincinnati. The actual tomb is the only thing here. Those expecting a museum or other interactive exhibits will be disappointed, but for history buffs it is a must. During my visit the was no ranger or park employee available but there were storyboards located nearby that details the life of President Harrison and his “short” time in office. The tomb is open on a seasonal schedule. The first time I visited the site in February of 2013, the actual tomb was locked. However on my second visit in the summer of 2021 the tomb with unlocked and open. There is a small parking area that can accommodate passenger cars. I did not see any area for oversize or RV's to park. There is No Charge...

The main Obelisk which contains the tomb of the President and his wife and several kids I believe is very nice. The Obelisk sort of reminded our group of the Lincoln burial obelisk in Springfield IL. Our group did find it odd that when u walk in to the tomb the President and his wife are buried off to the right. You would have expected them to be visible straight ahead. Very odd design either of the entrance way or the decision on where to bury them in the memory.
We all thought the memorial could be restored to a much better condition if maybe once every five years they take the time to pressure wash many of the old stone carvings and columns. Years of dirt and grime have collected on it that could be...
Read moreAbsolutely worth the drive from Western Kentucky to see this. He might have only been President for 30 days, but North Bend, Ohio really shows up for their claim to fame. You'll also notice along the route to the tomb just how much influence and history is associated with Anna Harrison's family, the Symmes, who founded this area of the Northwest Territory (modern day Ohio) via her father, John. I love how simple and peaceful everything is. Beautiful views of the area. Self guided tour, and the tomb is...
