If youâre just looking for day care, I think Dogtown Coconut Grove is fine. Our dog Lilo had fun playing with the other dogs, and we really liked Dâaveion and how he handled our nervous dog.
Unfortunately, with overnight boarding, Dogtown did not meet our expectations when it came to our dogâs safety, comfort, and health, and our overall experience with staff was disorganized.
SAFETY: During her most recent stay, we were informed informed that Lilo got into a scuffle with another dog. We were informed that our dog and a puppy ânipped each otherâ while playing. I understand that these things happen, but she now has a chunk missing from her ear and will likely have a permanent scar.
COMFORT: After the scuffle when it was time for bed, the photos uploaded to Liloâs diary showed that they put her to sleep with a towel on the floor. When I asked the reason, staff told me that they didnât want her to get blood on her bed. I donât know any dog owners who care more about blood stains than their dog having a comfortable place to sleep.
HEALTH: During Liloâs first stay with Dogtown, photos uploaded to her diary showed her on the edge of her bed with some poop in the corner. Staff had already left for the night, so she wouldâve been left lying with her poop for 14 hours if I hadnât reached out to management.
DISORGANIZATION: We requested our first overnight booking for 6/25-6/30. Booking was confirmed on 6/17 at 6:20pm. Then, on 6/24 at 7:02pm (about 12hrs prior to drop off) we were notified that our booking would need to be cancelled as she had not yet completed a daycare trial. For our last booking 9/18-9/21, on the online forum I had selected 8pm as a drop off time. I was contacted on 9/18 at 2:08 pm and told my selected drop off time was too late. If someone had just reviewed the online forum when my booking was confirmed we could have avoided these issues.
For all of these problems, management responded promptly and attempted to remedy the situation as best they could. However, the frequency of issues has been overwhelming. I would recommend the following changes: Carefully check each dog before leaving for the night Be mindful of the photos posted to the diary Review the customerâs form prior to confirming a booking Update the website. If you google âDogtown Coconut Groveâ and click âCoconut Grove Dogtownâ on the Google listing, you will be directed to what looks like a complete page, including an FAQ section that says âWe do not have restrictive drop-off or pick-up timesâ and âAfter-hours drop-off is available for membersâ. Surprisingly, this does not match...
Read moreTook my German Shepherd in to get her first hair cut. Understandably she was extremely nervous being around other dogs... the groomer was upset that the dog pooped after her wash when she was left unattended for the groomer to "see about another dog" and had to rewash her. The groomer refused to cut her hair because she didn't wsnt to upset the dog any further again understandable. But to charge $92 for a deshedding treatment that is part of the shampoo and conditioning treatment is outrageous! My dog now has hair falling out and is constantly scratching and itching near her tail. When I called and asked them about it, they claim they have no clue what happened. She has never had this before now all of a sudden she her beautiful white coat is thining and has patches.... all I asked is what chemicals they used and couldn't get a straight answer. Never going to them again. Told all my dog owner friends to stay away if they value the health of their pet! EDIT: As soon as I posted this review, the co-owner contacted me via email. She was very attentive and sympathetic to my situation. She resolved my issue within minutes! Even though I didn't want it gave me a full refund, and made arrangements for me to bring Daisy back and meet the head groomer and her as well. Gave me important pointers for what to do next. Suggested a good allergy vet, and what over the counter soothing gel I should get while I wait. I am blown away by her service and comoletely changed my opinion in the location. The employee in question is getting a full training in how to deal with sensitive dogs and worried customers!!! I comoletely recommend them now that I habe the...
Read moreI will 1000,000,000,000.00 PERCENT return to DogTown for future spa days for my puppy and perhaps puppy camp when the need arises. My most favorite part about being introduced to DogTown was when I walked in. No less than 10 big, small, skinny, bigger-boned (as we over 100-pound-girls refer to ourselves,) long hair, short hair, lots of hair, no hair, big huge smiles of dogs all popped up from behind the counter to welcome me and the love-of-my-life, my 18-month-year-old puppy, LucyBelle. That greeting changed what started out as a very NOT-GOOD day into one in which I laughed out loud, like some crazy lunatic, on the my way back to the car. The second part of visiting DogTown that ensured I will be a repeat visitor was the groomer. She greeted me less than 5 minutes after I walked in. She answered my questions and without a hint of trying to upsell me, answered every question I had, in detail, about services I read advertised on their huge blackboard. When she noticed LucyBelle was a little nervous, she immediately got down, meeting her eye to eye, plied her with compliments, which LucyBelle loves (she really is a real little girl wearing dog ears and paws without thumbs-with frustrates both of us) and picked her up for snuggles and kisses. Now thatâs the way to not only my trust and confidence, but to my heart. And darn-it shoot me between my toes for not being able to call to mind this very instant that groomerâs name. But if youâre reading this, ask at the front desk who was LucyBelleâs spa specialist at 11 am...
