I give the exhibit itself three stars. They have unique things to see and an interesting story to be told. My father came to visit us in Jacksonville and I was very much looking forward to showing him the museum. However the docents in the museum practically mugged us the minute we walked in the door. We didn't want a tour and they need to ask patrons if they have questions or are interested in a tour. One elderly lady forced my dad to sit down while she began telling him everything she knew about the town. He finally had to interrupt her and ask if he could go look at the rest of the museum! The elderly gentleman that was there just started reciting the military history which was not of interest to us and not why we came to this museum. The museum itself is interesting but you will have to be firm with the docents so they don't keep you there for hours. We finally had to leave as they wouldn't...

Nice place to stop and get some good local history. The docent hoover's too much though. He almost pressures you into a guided personal tour. He's nice and knowledgeable but there are times when you want to self guide and he should respect that. Its a great building with some interesting things to linger over. Each section is set up nicely in different time periods or subject matters. Make sure to go to the coffee shop and bakery next door- fabulous pastries. Not affiliated with the museum..just...

We enjoyed our visit here to this business. The staff present were friendly and knowledgeable. They told history of area and answered questions about exhibits. It was fun to walk around and look at all the artifacts and read history of Micanopy. There is a $2 per person suggested donation for this place. The staff are volunteers, so this goes into maintaining property and keeping lights on. This location is not open Monday or Tuesday and opens at 1:00 other days. Thank you for an...

Fantastic little museum full of rich local history. There were TONS of antique items from various points of time. We spent probably 30 mins meandering around and listening to the informative volunteer. $2 per adult and parking was free... if you can find it. The coffee shop next door was pretty busy so parking was a tad difficult. We parked at the far end of the playground. Highly recommended for anyone that enjoys history.

Quaint little town called Micanopy Fl. The oldest community in the interior of Florida. Only 648 residents in this small town. In 1991 the movie Doc Hollywood was filmed here. The small town of Micanopy was transformed into the fictional town of Grady, South Carolina. Several other movies were also filmed in Micanopy.

This place has such a friendly and old atmosphere. You can tell the small town has put a lot into preserving the whole town. Has stuff about old Micanopy, the native tribes, world war 11, and more. It's all so fascinating, only $2 per person when we went through during the fall festival
