Will a friend of mine happened to take me to lunch today and wanted to show me a different part of Alachua County so she took me to the old Florida Cafe and boy was I thrilled. It is so old-fashioned in that area the houses are just beautiful the cafe was just as nice as can be the people were so laid-back and nice and I just I couldn't even say enough about the place there was a lady and a gentleman that were out on the porch there where you can sit outside playing music one was had a both act actually had a guitar and then the lady actually had a flute and a the man had a harmonica so with all that put together it was just beautiful on the played a lot of old James Taylor just a lot of old-fashioned music very soft you know it wasn't loud how some places are where you have to almost yell to talk over the music this was just I mean if anybody wants to go to a beautiful laid-back Florida old Florida Cafe would be the place to go they're open for breakfast and lunch I believe they close at 4 and just great youth they have ice creams there they have all kinds of wraps and sandwiches and soups salads and right next door to them happens to be a little shop that had all kinds of all old-fashioned artifacts that were actually made into jewelry and other little nice things you just have to go to be there so and I really enjoyed myself I want to go back like today but that's when my friends come from Boca Raton Florida I'm definitely going to suggest going there and just park in the car and and just the scenery of the area it's in it's a small area but it's so down-to-earth it's it's the way people used to be and...
Read moreThe setting is truly lovely, and I especially admire the tall trees. The atmosphere evokes the charm of old Florida with a delightful Cuban influence. The Cuban sandwiches were exceptionally good. We sampled one called Bootsy, which I understand was named after a family member who inspired the recipe. It offers a unique twist on the classic Cuban, and the result is simply delicious. I highly recommend trying it. I also enjoyed the coleslaw with my sandwich, and it was wonderfully creamy.
The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the antique items on display inside perfectly captured the essence of old Florida. There were charming decorations outside, and tables were available both indoors and outdoors. We opted to sit inside, as it was a warm day.
They had restrooms inside, and it seemed to be a pet-friendly establishment.
If you happen to be in downtown Micanopy, I would certainly suggest this place for a...
Read moreI really enjoyed my visit today to Old Florida Cafe. Very chill atmosphere. Cheyenne was really cool and was working the restaurant with just the cook. She was super kind to every customer even though she was busy and she was able to get the food out quickly. I had the banana pudding she made and the bacon sandwich. Everything tasted great and I had enough left over to bring some banana pudding home. Traveling alone is hard but when you find really nice staff at a good restaurant if makes it so much easier. Also if you want to check out some cool sites Cheyenne knew the area and pointed me towards some cool spots to check out. To the owners, I hope you know how great you're staff are the two of them were bustun butt and really rockin today and did a great job! I'll definitely be back next time I'm...
