Great place. Museum is full of beautiful artifacts. For those for whom content offered for viewing and learning are much more important han a fancy Museum facade: The place has the comfortable "old shoe" feels of an old building, and is able to take you back in time. You will not find this experience is a shiny, brightly lit futuristic building. The people there are friendly and laid back. Tour was very interactive-- they give you a voice box to follow the exhibits. If you want to go at your own pace without any voice-over, you can skip the voice box but you will miss a LOT of information. The exhibits are choc- full of information, diagrams, maps, artifacts, pictures. A must -see for any history buffs: They have a Prayer Pipe on display, which was beautiful to witness if you are spiritual or otherwise inclined towards that type of artifact, or the culture in general. Gift shop items reasonably priced. Jewelry, knives, incense, clothing, novelty items, dreamcatchers and more for purchase. Buy tickets at Gift shop register. They accept credit cards and cash. I did not take note of ADA Accessibility or lack thereof, but we can tell you the tour has no stairs once you are inside, and there are low incline ramps within tour rooms. Have a good time honoring the past, not only of Native American heritage, but of the progression of...
Read moreWhat a complete little gem of a place! The museum is audio guided and my 9 year old son and I loved it. Short and sweet and very much to the point. I like to think I am very knowledgeable about history but there were things I learned going in there that I learned. The owners and the people who work there are so kind and sweet as well as super knowledgeable. My son loved talking to them and they loved talking to him as well. The kids also get a free arrowhead going into the museum. The gift shop was amazing. There are many native made things to purchase. A ton of books as well. There really is something for everyone there. 10/10 recommend going while visiting the Poconos. To the people posting bad reviews, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Some of the items were reconstructed to give people a realistic vision of what these items looked like. There were real legit items from archeological diggings in the museum. There are cheap items geared toward children however soooo many handmade items from native american people. I saw someone post why dont they have real natives working there? If you went through the tour you would have seen touching leaves who was the last full blooded Native from around the pocono area. How do you know the employees who have a passion for the history are not part native? Little...
Read moreHave lived in the poconos 15 years about , and have always wanted to visit but often find myself reluctant to do the things tourist's do, but was doing instacart today and delivered right by it so I told my husband I wanted to go in and check it out. I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth it ; well the 7.00 admission price for the self guided tour was very affordable, the displays weren't corny either (like other attractions in the area) , we were the first ones there so we toured alone and at our own pace, I've always been interested in and appreciative of native cultures - and given the pocono history there was lots of information and education to soak up during the tour. The gift Shop was beautiful carrying both novelty and native made items. I got the most beautiful doll and pair of moccasin boots I've ever seen! And my husband got some items too! The gift shop is 3 levels so there's something for everyone there!!! Very impressed and pleased that...
