This beach is enjoyable. The sand is soft and there are a lot of shells to look for. Water temps during our visit were pretty cold. But the water was relatively clear of any seaweed or algae, which was nice. Parking for an out of state visitor was $45 for the day. Limited parking spaces, especially for out of state visitors. There is a private lot for RI visitors. I hadn’t attempted myself, but I overheard other beach goers making comments that the bathrooms are for beach members only, as well as the showers. We more than likely will not return, as we are MA residents. But I’m sure this is a great spot to frequent for RI residents!

This beach is the perfect low-key alternative to First Beach or Second Beach. Small and peaceful, with a harbor view of nearby boats and day trippers out on the water, calm water makes it perfect for families with young children.

Serene quiet sand, cool breezes, gentle water and easy convenient location add up to a great spot to recharge or relax. Surprising snack bar and amenities top the bill. Foot note, this is a membership beach open to the public, parking costs a bit more and many items are for members only. However everyone is friendly and sociable. Worth the stop and...

It’s a nice location and we’ve been many times to 3rd Beach, but decided to go there because we (Portsmouth residents :() can’t park there. Even though it wasn’t crowded (windy) and we paid $30 to park they couldn’t rent us chairs (?) and we left early as sand was blowing in our faces....
