This bridge, only a few short blocks from the center of Mifflinburg, and only 10 minutes away from Hayes Covered Bridge is, in my opinion one of the most nicely situated bridges in Union county. On the northern side, closest to town is a trail head for Koon's Trail, which is a mile long trail that follows the Buffalo Creek. It appeared to be the safest and easiest place to park. If you walk just a short distance on the trail, you'll find the best views to get photos . The bridge is open to car traffic, so walking through it felt a little risky. When a car goes through it (and there were several that came by while we were there), it makes a thundering sound, since the floor is made of metal grid work. It is also appears that the Koons Trail area is the ONLY accessible public land to the bridge, limiting our exploration of the surrounding area. On the southern side is a beautiful home. Graffiti was moderate. .

Well worth the visit if you haven't seen a Burr Truss bridge. Although it has had many updates, it's still one of the oldest bridges in the country. Look for its age in the old arches and the kingposts. ❤️ bridges!

Easy to find from Route 45 in Mifflinburg. Go North on 4th Street and it's about a half mile from town.

It's a beautiful old wooden covered bridge that is still open to public traffic. It has an unusual steel grate floor that obviously isn't original. The road it is on is quiet and has little traffic. A great place to visit off the...
