I'm a true comic book enthusiast and a big Silver age and Modern fan. I found the listing for Main Street Comics when searching for Comic bookstores in the Tri-State area while preparing to take my two sons on their 1st ever comic experience/adventure. As a public school teacher I value the importance of a true comic book store experience especially being that’s it’s my boys first experience. My goal was to find the “Right Spot” for my boys to feel welcomed because as their father I know by finding the right home was very important. And if I found the “right place”I knew exactly what was about to happen. My boys would get into the hobby just as I have at their age. My boys would experience the curiosity, excitement, brain overload with tons of questions that only makes them great readers but also learn valuable lessons that this comic hobby brings. So this experience needed to be right if I wanted to open this door to my own two children. I'm so glad that I made a point of visiting. I was astounded at the number of comics and graphic novels they had. I was absolutely delighted to find that the whole back wall of the shop was dedicated to all-things CGC and holy grails.

I sought advice of the shop owner (Mike) and staff (Jacky) on some good books to read and found them to be friendly and quite knowledgeable. They helped me and my boys with several new series' to read. I picked up two books while there and have a list of titles to work on after I finish the ones that I brought home with me.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend taking the time to find this hidden gem and give yourself ample time to peruse the titles.
Main Street Comics for life, Ryan,...
Read moreWithout any apprehension, I totally recommend Main Street Comics and the owner Mike.
The business is 30 years old and for good reason, Mike is one of my favorite people in the business. While it’s a reasonably small shop, it’s chock loaded with tons of comics, cards and Funco Pops. Everything is clean, well organized and it’s easy to find whatever you’re looking for.
Mike is a great businessman, I’ve seen people walk into his store to sell and not realize the value of what they had. Many other dealers would low ball and offer next to nothing and laugh when the seller leaves. I’ve witnessed many times when sellers come in, Mike honestly tells them what he would sell their collectible for and makes a reasonable offer based on that price.
That kind of honesty is rare and I have total comfort that I can bring him something and be fairly compensated without having to shop around.
I wish very business was run like this, but seeing that isn’t the case, I’m glad that Mike and Main Street Comics exists. Also they have a great selection of Aftershock comics as well as Marvel, DC, Image, Boom and other independents.
If there is something you need but don’t see, don’t hesitate to ask. They have a stock room that has many things that won’t fit in the store. And If it is available and you need it, Mike will order it for you and call you when it arrives.
Full disclosure- I’m a rep for a comic book company and a collector. I’m in and out of 30 comic shops a month and can take my business anywhere. This is the place that I bring 99% of my business to and that’s...
Read moreI went their to buy a set of Pokémon cards. It retails for $39.99 everywhere else. This place was selling it for $70. Nearly double MSRP. This is a store. Not a reseller. When I inquired why they were above retail price the owner very rudely responded with “either buy it or don’t.” I could not believe how I as a customer was treated.
I’m all for supporting small businesses, but if the business does not even attempt to support its local community and customers, then I don’t feel so bad when they close down. This is greed to a new level. Charging customers double for a product in your store is extremely slimy. They just lost a customer.
response This is a reply to the response from the owner. The price the Pokémon product was being sold at the store was far and above more than any scalper that I have seen online. What makes a store different than a scalper if they are charging double market price for a product that is newly released? And how does that excuse the rude behavior towards the customer? When is it proper service from a business to answer a customers question with “either buy it or leave.” I drove 15 minutes to another comic store in manalapan and purchased the same product for $45. All with a smile from that business. I did notice that you have reviews commenting negatively about your manners. It is also a NJ law that price gouging is illegal during a state of emergency. Which NJ is still under. FYI. Treat customers better. It is also very strange to pass judgement on customers you don’t even know. Not very...
