El Rey FoodMart — Attraction in Milwaukee

I've been coming here for years to buy niche items. For a local grocery store they're mostly overpriced so I don't buy my everyday items here. I'm a frequent shopper for meat and bakery items and there meat sales are really good. I wouldn't have had a negative thing to say (besides about them being overpriced ) but today their manager was super rude to me and he sees me spend money there several times a week. That was a huge surprise and I definitely feel some type of way. *Update: I talked with Alberto, another manager, and have had everything sorted out. Apparently, I'm not the only person who he's been rude to. Still shopping here weekly and am greeted with smiles and hellos from many of the staff members. They've all been super helpful and even order certain things I buy often if asked. Will continue to shop here. Do be careful with their produce though many times it's already going bad. To make a long story short about 3 weeks ago a friend and I came to this grocery store we was amazed on how big it was and it was so much items that we can find we were looking for a particular type of meat so we not familiar with the store . So we walking around in the store just checking things out looking at different things shopping. Soon as we walked in the store we've been watched and I felt that there was just so degrading what they were doing to us we're really hurting my feelings the most when they had the eye candy come and follow behind us like he was really concerned of customer service just to let you know all black people don't steal 🤨 when we finish buying or items my friend said did you see that ?of course I did you don't have to worry about me coming back again I pray that know other black human go in...

My mom, 84, shops here on the regular. Today (4/22/23) there was a situation where she was walking to the store and we were on the phone - I live in Illinois- and after we hung up, someone called me from my mom’s number. I wasn’t sure if she’d lost her phone, if she’d been hurt (she uses a walker), etc… I was worried so I called the store and explained the situation and after describing my mom to ‘Alberto’ he knew exactly who she was. He immediately walked around the store inside and out looking for her. Thankfully, she was okay- she had her phone (something bizarre with Verizon). Point of the review is that Alberto at this store knew my mom from her frequent visits and took the time to take a call from a worried daughter in Illinois to help make sure her Mami was okay.
