Extra Space Storage — Attraction in Minneapolis

The customer service we have gotten from Steve at Extra Space on Industrial Blvd has been truly amazing. After a terrible experience with a moving company, we were very stressed out trying to get organized after a cross-country move from California. Steve has been incredibly understanding as we try to negotiate with another unprofessional company -- I would DEFINITELY recommend ExtraSpace... a true breath of fresh air after so many headaches.

A bunch of little things helped us feel truly taken care of: showing us around different units to make sure the size we picked was correct and offering to move us to a unit that was a bit closer to where our pod was parked getting on the phone with the awful moving company to try to expedite our pod pickup being very nice and cutting us some "slack" on some smaller details that are probably annoying to him but made a HUGE difference for us (i.e. the huge pod container being parked outside his business) just being a thoughtful and professional human being!

Not to mention the actual facility is WAY nicer than other storage facilities I've seen -- clearly air conditioned (actually provided a great respite during our long day of moving in the 90 degree heat), very clean, and easy code access 6am-10pm.

My experience with Extra Space has been a pleasant one. I’ve had a unit here for almost two years, and at one point had a second unit as well.

It’s quite easy to drive in to the facility and park. And the same goes for when we were unloading a U-haul during Labor Day weekend, which I thought would be very busy, with the beginning of the month and back to school season - but it wasn’t too busy at all. The temperature inside is also always nice - so no having to deal with it being too hot or cold when hauling stuff. The building is also gated for safety with personalized door codes, and I’ve always felt safe, even as a woman when I’ve gone alone. It’s always been easy to access my unit (I’ve never seen it too busy) and there have always been flat bed carts available to use - which are so, so helpful! And when doing larger moves we’ve been able to use three or so carts at a time (plenty of to go around).

Steve and all of the staff have been great and very helpful when needed. It’s always been easy to get in touch with someone - both onsite and on the phone.

This location is also great because it is so central - whether you are in Minneapolis, St. Paul, or the surrounding area, it’s a breeze to get to.

Overall, if you are looking for a storage option, I’d definitely recommend this Extra...

I chose this storage company because they offer remote access and gate entry via an app. The 3rd party app stopped working several months ago and there is no support from the developers. They recently "updated" the app on 8/8/22 saying, "Fixes the "No Internet" error message that would appear when attempting to use the Forgot Password function when logging in." But unfortunately nothing changed. It has been over a week since the failed update and users are still getting the same error. The developers PTI Security Systems ought to be investigated for fraud. I predict a class-action lawsuit in their future. As for Extra Space Storage there is no support for this major problem. Contacting support just passes the buck to the on-site management at your storage facility, but they can't fix a broken 3rd party app, and you can't contact the developers because apparently the email address their contact form uses bounces back as undeliverable. Extra Space Storage needs to publicly acknowledge this issue and offer customers a partial refund or discounted rates until the problem is solved. The app has been unusable for several months, why am I still paying full price for storage services that are supposed to include...
