I went to the 2nd Swing golf store on E Hennepin in Minneapolis because I had a gift certificate given to me as part of transitioning from a work career to retirement. I have never been to this store so I did not know what to expect nor did I know what expertise they had with their professionals. I signed up for a fitting time because I wanted to get a new set of clubs. I was paired up with TJ Halifin who is a store golf professional Expert plus plays himself a good golf game, so he knows what he is talking about. We hit balls for two hours to obtain swing patterns collecting various fact data from the golf simulator. I appreciated TJ for he did not judge my inadequacies plus retained a high patience level to figure out what direction to begin in club selection. TJ analyzed the data, my swing, ball travel ( speed / spin ) and sized me with a longer club length to start with. What I was most impressed by was the time and care TJ provided to educate me on the technology of the golf club then how to apply it with my swing / ball data. In other words applying the technology with my specific inadequacies to clean up or improve the fades hooks and pulls I sometimes have. After two hours of hitting balls we found the right club brand, club weighting, club angles and club face position. I found after his guidance in the fitting process with TJ my ball flight became more consistent in direction ( span ), distance and spin. What this means to me is more confidence in what I am doing and a path for continuous improvement when out on the course. UPDATE. Jake is a great fitter, this has nothing to do with him.
I received my first club with zero issues. 2nd club arrived and had the wrong weights in the driver. I thought no big deal and called 2nd swing's customer service. The first person I talked to told me I couldn't call, I had to send an email. Ok, did that. I received an email from Jake saying they had called Taylormade and they would be shipping new weights early the next week.
Fast forward to the next Wednesday, I hadn't heard anything. I called back several times, speaking to a new person each time and re-explaining the problem each time.
Thursday I asked to speak with a manager and was referred to Mike in Sales. I re-told the whole story to Mike, he said the file was on his desk and he would get back to me Thursday or Friday.. nope. I called Friday at about 3:30, told Mike was available and I was transferred to him, it went to voicemail. It is now Monday at 11:00. I still haven't heard anything.
I just ordered weights off of ebay so I can use the club. That's cheaper than driving down to return the club and re-explaining everything again.
I won't be returning to 2nd swing.
