Poorly laid out with kids space and work spaces directly beside each other. The “solution” is quiet rooms you have to reserve and are almost always in use. All I’d like is a space with a chair and table across the library from the kids area that I can sit at and work and not be directly next to them but they all have library computers at them. There are chairs without tables but no actual work spaces. I always leave my community library disappointed and annoyed because I can’t actually use the space without being disrupted by kids playing loudly or people talking full volume right next to me.

Libraries used to be places people could work with reasonable expectations of peace but even with my headphones in I’m being disrupted in them now.
I didn’t expect to be such a crotchety person in my early 30s but I can’t work in a space that is so chaotic when I can’t get more than 20 feet...

I 100% support a safe place for our community's kids, but listening to kids scream and swear while playing on...
Read moreI took my toddler here for some reading and play time. It may be unfair to group or assume that libraries provide a baseline of things for toddlers and kids to do. This library didn't have almost anything to do for kids. And it was dead quiet as well so even if we had stuck around, it would have felt awkward. The library isn't terribly large and the parking lot is small. The bathrooms are pretty...
