Things I loved: the ambiance and decor. The vibe was exactly what I expected. The diverse patrons. The branding. The mission! Super cool development. Most importantly - The coffee!!! I had the sweet potato latte and it was wonderful! Not too sweet, the espresso was delicious. I’m excited to try the others! And north needs more quality businesses! They definitely got the bill and are impacting the community well. The shop is also eco-conscious!

Things that need improvement: customer service was not great. The young male that helped me was not super helpful or friendly. Service was bit slow. A small thing, but He didn’t ask if I was to-go or staying so he put it in a to-go cup. So, while it is eco-conscious, they did not utilize this to the best of their abilities. They definitely could’ve used a mug because I was staying.

Just an FYI, Nether positive or negative, not a great space for studying. There’s only about 8 table spots. They’re all very close together. There’s also a couch with two chairs and then another spot with two chairs. As many places in Minneapolis, it is street parking only but there is plenty around!

I will return for sure and if the customer services improves I’ll increase this to a 5/5. Honesty, it was the only thing lacking in...

Overall, I like the concept of 'The Get Down'. They have friendly staff and are a very welcome addition to the North Minneapolis Coffee Scene. However, there are much better alternatives for both price and staying power (at least indoors).

The Pros: Good staff Great location. They opened in a space that very much appreciates a local 'go to' coffee spot in the Camden area. Good brand - To be clear, the coffee is not their own. They are in collaboration with Dogwood Coffee. But I love the design of their brand and identity.

The Cons: Extremely overpriced coffee menu. There are alternatives that offer food and beverage options at a competitive price. $7 for a 16 oz. latte is simply not acceptable. The whole bean coffee they sell is also less expensive at Target than their own physical location. Small physical space that often feels cramped and less conducive to creating authentic conversation. A very small number of electrical outlets that do not enable people to study /...

The Get Down Coffee Shop is truly a hidden gem worth every mile of the drive! Even though it’s a bit out of my way, the experience makes it all worthwhile.

The variety of coffee options is impressive, offering something for every palate—from classic brews to unique blends. The atmosphere is nothing short of amazing; it’s cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind or catch up with friends.

Cleanliness is clearly a priority here, which adds to the overall pleasant experience. Plus, the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help you choose your next favorite drink.

On my most recent visit, I picked up some coffee beans to take home, and I can’t wait to try them out! If you’re a coffee lover or just looking for a great place to relax, Get Down Coffee Shop should definitely be on your list. Can’t...

They tore down houses to put in some gentrified apartments with a coffee shop and hair salon built in. It's a very afrocentric aesthetic, but of course the place is full of white people and it's very basic drinks with fancy names that are overpriced. Take off the fancy names and put this place in South Minneapolis in the drinks would be $2 cheaper at any other location. The real flap in the face was the place being cash only. This is a predominantly black working-class neighborhood, but it's like the white people had to build their little oasis and gatekeep as much as possible while wearing the African American African diaspora aesthetic. This really is a commentary on Minneapolis and the way things are going.

What a great & unique place. Shown here are the brown sugar banana coffee & berry scone with frosting which I didn't know I needed. Coffee had a robust burnt-caramel flavor that somewhat worked, but overall I wasn't ready for it. Despite this I really dig how they even had this flavor, among others moreso than the product itself. 'Nilla wafers in coffee?... Nice! Scone was great - just more moist than I prefer, but that's because it was fresh so no problem there. My favorite thing about this place however were their compostable cups. The ribbed cardboard felt so good to hold & never scolded my hand. No need for those pesky thin cardboard sleeves.
