Things I loved: the ambiance and decor. The vibe was exactly what I expected. The diverse patrons. The branding. The mission! Super cool development. Most importantly - The coffee!!! I had the sweet potato latte and it was wonderful! Not too sweet, the espresso was delicious. I’m excited to try the others! And north needs more quality businesses! They definitely got the bill and are impacting the community well. The shop is also eco-conscious!
Things that need improvement: customer service was not great. The young male that helped me was not super helpful or friendly. Service was bit slow. A small thing, but He didn’t ask if I was to-go or staying so he put it in a to-go cup. So, while it is eco-conscious, they did not utilize this to the best of their abilities. They definitely could’ve used a mug because I was staying.
Just an FYI, Nether positive or negative, not a great space for studying. There’s only about 8 table spots. They’re all very close together. There’s also a couch with two chairs and then another spot with two chairs. As many places in Minneapolis, it is street parking only but there is plenty around!
I will return for sure and if the customer services improves I’ll increase this to a 5/5. Honesty, it was the only thing lacking in...
Read moreOverall, I like the concept of 'The Get Down'. They have friendly staff and are a very welcome addition to the North Minneapolis Coffee Scene. However, there are much better alternatives for both price and staying power (at least indoors).
The Pros: Good staff Great location. They opened in a space that very much appreciates a local 'go to' coffee spot in the Camden area. Good brand - To be clear, the coffee is not their own. They are in collaboration with Dogwood Coffee. But I love the design of their brand and identity.
The Cons: Extremely overpriced coffee menu. There are alternatives that offer food and beverage options at a competitive price. $7 for a 16 oz. latte is simply not acceptable. The whole bean coffee they sell is also less expensive at Target than their own physical location. Small physical space that often feels cramped and less conducive to creating authentic conversation. A very small number of electrical outlets that do not enable people to study /...
