A beautiful spot to visit on a warm day. We stopped as part of our bicycle ride through the surrounding area. Took off our shoes and waded through the water. The fountains are so well designed, and waterfalls so captivating that I could look at them for ours. Such a treasure for the community. There was an incident that did cast a cloud over the experience. There was a person, that seemed to be having a mental health crisis. (Did not look homeless, but who knows). They had been wading into the fountain area (which are off limits, but not great signage), and happen to cut their foot on something. Alerting the security personnel only caused them to chastise the individual, but did not provide any medical assistant, or call for other resources. We had a first-aid kit and were able to render some help. Not sure what happened after we left. After reading some of the other negative reviews, it appears that their have been issues with homeless people in the area. Not sure what the answer is, but you simply can't have injured people, bleeding in public spaces, especially in areas where others are sharing that space. Kind of sad :(

It’s an oasis in the middle of the city. Great place to relax, eat lunch on the go or read a book.

Peavey Park Plaza is a popular public gathering area and event space in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Designed by landscape architect M. Paul Friedman and constructed from 1974-75, the park was designed to connect Nicollet Mall to Loring Park and provide a relaxing oasis for urban pedestrians. The sunken, multi-tiered space is an historically significant example of the Modernist aesthetic, incorporating Prairie/Wrightian style elements in its complex, formed concrete fountains and recreation areas.

Peavey Park Plaza is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and, in consultation with its original architect, is undergoing an historically-sensitive reconstruction/revitalization to improve its ADA accessibility, add new plantings, and restore winter ice skating to its...

We attended a concert on this plaza performed by members of the Minnesota Orchestra. We were seated in pairs and physically separated in order to abide by the COVID19 recommendations. The plaza and setting is very nice and an excellent venue for a summertime concert. The setting provided the occasional colorful ambient sounds of the city including people and emergency vehicles. It...
