As a group that has done several escape rooms (including other rooms with this company) we were disappointed with our experience in The Apartment. From the beginning, our clue master (Atlas) did not seem particularly enthusiastic and most of her instructions were about ensuring her experience guiding us was pleasant, as opposed to the other way around. For instance, during her introductory spiel, she told us not to piss her off, or she would give us bad clues. We were with another group, and we weren’t given the chance to introduce ourselves so that we could work together. Having had poor prior experiences elsewhere, we asked if everything in the room worked the way it should, and were assured it would, only for a major part of the room to be broken (opened when it wasn’t supposed to be). Our room master did a poor job helping us navigate that part of the puzzle, resulting in confusion and frustration. The room itself was dated, and the clues weren’t particularly intuitive, and 12 people for the room was definitely too many. The large combined group made it difficult for everyone to be involved and allowed information to get lost. We know that this company can do really cool rooms, having done one that we loved, but ultimately we are sad that our second experience here was so poor compared...
Read moreAnother long overdue review. We last visited three years ago, but a recent escape room experience elsewhere reminded me I needed to write this. We actually enjoyed two of their rooms on different occasions, with each being a definitive success. And not only because we escaped both times. First up (literally the first escape room any in our group had tried anywhere) was The Agency. Difficult to review without revealing spoilers, but as a debut experience for us, it worked out near perfectly, with at least one beautifully unexpected moment that blew our minds. The timing of when we returned for The Dig provided us an opportunity to add something extra to our experience. We were celebrating a birthday, and staff had kindly agreed to hide a few small gifts within the escape room itself, to be discovered as we made progress. This certainly enhanced our fun to a higher level, but this is a genuinely good escape room regardless, with a great theme. We had such a damn good experience on both occasions, and the staff were superb each time. The theme of their third room (The Apartment) doesn't excite us too much, but considering the quality of their other experiences, it would likely be worth a...
Read moreHad a great experience with the lady who helped us once we got settled in to the room. The guy who checked us in was something else. He was not very welcoming. When i checked in, i told him well had already signed the waiver form a head of time. As we were getting checked in he told us to scan a QR code, in which we all did. As soon as the website popped up i realized it was to sign the waiver again…. I asked him, is this for the waiver? He said yes, again i reiterated that we all already did it. He responded by “ok, well honestly i didn’t check” if they were completed or not. If you were going to check if we completed it or not please don’t have us fill it out ahead of time… he did not seem like he wanted to be there or help us. So first impression i was already thinking this was going to be a waste of time. Thankfully we had a good experience in the end and the lady was our narrator instead. This would have been 5 stars but 1 star off due to the first impression...
