As a group that has done several escape rooms (including other rooms with this company) we were disappointed with our experience in The Apartment. From the beginning, our clue master (Atlas) did not seem particularly enthusiastic and most of her instructions were about ensuring her experience guiding us was pleasant, as opposed to the other way around. For instance, during her introductory spiel, she told us not to piss her off, or she would give us bad clues. We were with another group, and we weren’t given the chance to introduce ourselves so that we could work together. Having had poor prior experiences elsewhere, we asked if everything in the room worked the way it should, and were assured it would, only for a major part of the room to be broken (opened when it wasn’t supposed to be). Our room master did a poor job helping us navigate that part of the puzzle, resulting in confusion and frustration. The room itself was dated, and the clues weren’t particularly intuitive, and 12 people for the room was definitely too many. The large combined group made it difficult for everyone to be involved and allowed information to get lost. We know that this company can do really cool rooms, having done one that we loved, but ultimately we are sad that our second experience here was so poor compared to our first.
