I participated in the Performance Driving School on Sept 27th. I was very nervous after reading another review by 'John' and hearing of his experience. I was very surprised to find my day to be entirely different from his. There were 87 drivers on the 27th, and I had ZERO issues getting as many laps in as I wanted, ZERO issues with instructors not being available, and ZERO issues with equipment. I put in well over 100 miles on the 2.5 mile track and burned through my half used up brake pads. The next day my arms/shoulders were sore and my thumbs has blisters on them from the steering wheel. I don't think my car or myself could have lasted any longer. I had all the input I could ask for from the instructors and even from Gary Curtis, the director of the program. (All very very nice and friendly)
I don't know what happened to spark the bad review, but let me assure you that his experience is not common. I talked with some serious road racers that go to almost every PDS session throughout the summer and they never had an experience like in the 1 star review either.
I would highly recommended this and I will be going again for sure this next season, even if I have to pay full price (had 1/2 off coupon). It is more than worth what they...
Read moreWe are a group of 40-70+ year olds Security (IMO) seems to have authority issues. Yes, they were correct ... Maybe the 14 years old kids should not have been driving/riding the little Polaris 4 wheeler ( on the grass) behind our campers. The rest of their power issues were uncalled for(IMO). We are not camping in the family section for one thing. At approx. 7:00 pm.they came into our camp area and unplugged our radio speaker. IMO, they can ask to turn it down but DO NOT touch our stuff. They did not have a problem with the music being loud.... BTW there were quite a few of them who felt they needed to flex their muscle! (IMO) over-kill on ganging up. they did not like the kids riding the little 4 wheeler in the grassy area WHERE THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND FOR THEM TO RUN INTO! There were other security ppl coming by who did not have a problem with anything we were doing. The race is great, the new roads and showers are a welcomed addition. We had been coming to the bike races since our oldest son was approx 4....he's 40 now! Glad that the bike races are back. We've gotten quite a few people to follow us here and are getting hooked on...
Read moreWent to BIR on Friday to watch some racing and visit some old friends who are entered in this weekend's event. Paid $40 for entry and spent about 4 hours walking the pits and then wanted to sit down in a General Admission grandstand for a short while. Went down to the far end of the track where the general admission grandstand had been, "had been" is the key. Met by a young man who told me it was now reserved seating and there was "NO general admission seating at the track". Made my first pass down Donneybrook raceway in 1969 and this weekend is my last visit. I have paid less for seating at Pomona and Gainesville and had the option to watch from the fence. With BIR's all reserve seating plan either get stood up against the wall for extra money or really not get to watch the racing. Guess that also will make me rethink bring a car to BIR bracket events in the future. Making sure to inform other car people of this...
