Lovely place to walk, bike, ride scooters or skateboards, and swim. You can set up and swim pretty much anywhere along the trail. There are some popular picnic spots, but there are also secluded spots you can chill alone. You can swim at the swimming area or the Dewey Short Visitor Center, or just along the shore somewhere. A lot of parking at the marina, the swimming spot, the boat ramp, the Branson Belle, and the visitor center, depending on what part of the trail you want to walk. That said, the entire trail from the marina to the visitor center isn't awfully long, especially if you're on a bike or scooter. But it's long enough to where you can visit different sections at different times. In addition to the actual boat ramp, there are two other abandoned boat ramps where you can swim from. One to the north of the Branson Belle, and one to the south. These were the entry/exit points for the Ride the Ducks duck boat tours. After the tragic 2018 sinking of Stretch Duck 7 that killed 17 people, the tours shut down and moved to the White River near the Landing as Branson Duck Tours. There are a couple homemade memorials at the gate to the north ramp, which can be visited from the Branson Belle parking lot or if you're walking the trail that goes through it. Love this...
Read moreThis is a great way trail that goes from the Table Rock State Marina to the Army Corps of Engineers dam visitor's center. Along the way it passes along the state park campgrounds, through the day use area, boat ramp, and through Showboat Branson Belle entrance. Views of the lake all the way! Several benches are placed with views along the way with bike racks as well. There is a public bathroom on the dam side of the trail with a large parking lot. This is the best spot to start with parking unless you are staying at the campground. There are paths to the trail from campsites adjacent to the trail. Don't cut through occupied campsites to access the trail though.
The trail is a smooth asphalt surface the majority of the trail. For the stretch by the boat ramp and the table rock day use area the path narrows to a sidewalk width and cement surface. The grades are gradual for any type of transportation, bike,...
Read moreFollowing a hot and horrific hike in Hercules Tick Preserve, several hours’ stroll on a rainy summer day at Table Rock was about as refreshing as a frosty brew after a long hot day of lawn work. Like a walk-in freezer following an uphill walk in a heat wave. I went paved Lakeshore trail all the way to marina, then turned back on Chinquapin trail, hopped across the road to catch White River Valley trail back up north to this here parking lot. Had a little trouble finding Chinquapin at first, best use your wits and the trailhead map. Also found that White River Valley trail does not seem to connect to the parking lot, had to brush-hog trail-blaze my way out to the road and find the lot from there. Good long hike. No ticks, praise be, but a few abnormally painful muskeetors [sic]. Also a couple doe and some excellent birdsong. Take a...
