My one complaint: the whole two hours we were there the gift shop was closed for inventory. All four or so staff members didn't seem to be actively counting or anything either, just standing. Obviously the gift shop isn't at all the point of the place but I would have liked to look.
Pros: There are lots of artifacts, more than I expected, and they were all very cool. There was also a volunteer who engaged in showing pottery and such that could be touched. The information on the artifacts is interesting, and there is a relatively diverse number of subjects, talking about the Lost City but also about effects on it from the dam, immigration, et cetera. I do think it could be boring to people familiar with the area but as guests in Overton it was interesting, and something to do with how hot it...
Read moreIMO, It's a waste if time and money, unless you are a real history geek. 1. It's 15 min away from the highway, thus 30 min round trip. 2. Entrance fee is $5/person. It is an old-school archeological museum with glass cabinets with info posters, a timeline dating back to first people the area, and a display of native american pottery, weapons, jewellery. Last 3 displays show finds from 100 and 50 years back. Not the ancient history I had in mind... The ancient structure you see on all photos is a replica of a storage unit. Not authentic, not a dwelling place. A bookshop and a souvenir store occupy a very large space on that tiny museum, making me feel that there was not much history to display...

Outside, I wanted to see the lower level but have a disability and drove down instead of walking. He came out and watched me the whole time just in case I decided to steal a picnic table or dog kennel. The Hot and Dusty Exhibit was less than I had hoped for which is mainly why I went. For $5, you'll get your money's worth I suppose but I...
