I’m sorry I don’t have photos to share with this review. The tour was amazing. Our scheduled arrival time was 8:30. We arrived around 8 am. We were greeted and checked in. We were given helmets and goggles. They even honored my request for a pink helmet to match the goggles…what can I say, I love pink sports gear.
After everyone else arrived and got checked in, they started the briefing and safety portion. This started promptly at 9am. They went over everything from what to expect on the trail, using the machines, gps, and what insurance covers and doesn’t cover…basically everything.
After about 25 minutes, we were released to go ride on our own for 4 hours. My husband and I rented the RS1s, which are individual units. They were a lot of fun, but I have to say, didn’t provide the smoothest ride. The trail consisted of a small portion of rock climbing, gravel creek beads, sand dunes, hills, and flat areas. There were many scenic views, and we even saw a heard (flock, not sure correct term) of big horn sheep. I was so wrapped up in everything, I forgot to take pictures…my bad.
Every unit has a gps in it with a preloaded trail map. If you stay at the recommended zoom (500ft), you will have no problem following their suggested trail. At one point, I had it zoomed out to 1 mile, when the trail turned, I didn’t see that I had taken the wrong path…my husband noticed, but wasn’t able to get my attention for over a mile. By that time, I had found a small little canyon to explore…oops, my bad, again…but what an adventure, right?! After zooming back in, I was easily able to navigate the trail, what I didn’t know was that the gps portion is actually marked. My husband had me lead mostly I think that way he would know if I got into trouble…I don’t know how well that worked for him 😉
There are picnic tables, bathrooms, and some hiking trails along the trail if you don’t want to ride the entire 4 hour period, or if you want a break. I have to say, it was hot, bring water! However, the place where your water sits gets hot, so bring an insulated bottle with ice if you wish.
My one complaint was about the machine. With the RS1, you have a traditional seatbelt, not a harness, and it doesn’t adjust. Because of the rough ride, my seatbelt locked up a lot. Given that, it was rubbing against my neck and created a significant friction burn to the right of my trachea. When I talked to the staff about it, they said that Polaris will not allow them to switch out to the harness due to it being aftermarket and they don’t have seatbelt adjusters for the RS1 like they do for the other units. Maybe if enough people complain about that, their system will be modified. It was for this reason along I...
Read moreTook my family out while we were visiting over Thanksgiving break. I had a blast. I drove one 4 seater RZR and my dad drove another 4 seater. It was myself(35), my wife(36), my brother(26), and my daughter(11) in the one I drove. The machines are top notch with GPS navigation installed in them. The GPS system is pre-installed with the trail for you to follow so it makes it kinda hard to get lost. I have never driven anything like this but I didn't have any issues with it. Before you head out the staff gives you a half hour "drivers meeting". They go over everything you can think of. Instructions on driving. What to do if by chance anything happens out there(flat tire, breakdown, any other issues). How to read the GPS. And if you have any questions the staff is very knowledgeable and can answer all questions. Before you head out you will be fitted with a helmet and a pair of goggles. The first probably half our of the trail is a little tricky but as long as you do what the staff says and take it easy on the gas you will do fine. After that you can take the trail at your own pace. Whatever is comfortable for you. There are some sand dunes if you want to open it up a bit. There are also bathrooms along the way if needed. Also plenty of opportunities to stop and take pictures of the scenery. The only wildlife I saw on our ride were chipmunks. Lol. All in all it was an awesome ride and my whole...
Read moreEvery year we plan a family vacation: parents (60-61), two sons (27-28) and their girlfriends (same age). We always try to include as many activities as possible in our travel schedule. This year we visited a part of southwest America. When making up the schedule I found many commendable comments about the Valley of Fire. So, I started searching for an activity in the neighborhood. I ended up at Ultimate Desert Adventures for the rental of an ATV machine. In fact, I have rented three ATVs, one for each couple. It turned out to be a great experience: by far the best of our trip. It was very easy to find the company in Overton: it is located along the main road, and you can see the machines from far away. We were received by a very sympathetic lady: Jill. After completing the administrative formalities, we crawled into the machines. The ATVs are equipped with a GPS tracker and a transmitter with which the company can follow us and with which we can contact them in the event of a breakdown. There are also front and inside cameras that record the images throughout the entire trip. And of course there is the GPS that shows the route. It became a once in a lifetime experience. Awesome. We drove four hours through a very varied landscape. This company deserves a full five star...
