Cardenas Markets — Attraction in Modesto

Customer service and sense of urgency is non existent here sadly. Hot food is priced higher than other restaurants in the area, food is also somewhat greasy. For a lunch plate and a drink it’s nearly $15 with tax.

They need more than one person working the hot food station especially during busy lunch hours. If there’s one person ahead of me I shouldn’t be waiting over 5 mins to be asked what my order is......

Too many times I’ve come and spent a great deal of time on my lunch break waiting to be served ready made food. There won’t even be that many people ahead, sometimes it’s just one person ahead, like today and the wait for food that’s ALREADY cooked is pretty long. If they had at least one other person working that station , it probably would go a lot quicker.

So unfortunately I won’t be coming back to this business, as there are far too many other options around this area for lunch. I come here for the ready made food, but I’m always waiting forever so what’s the point, I might as well order from an actual restaurant. They also never answer the phone so it’s not like I can call in an order. I don’t know why I even bothered trying to come here anymore.

Less than one star if possible. I went into the store on 4/28 to place a taquiza order for 25 people at 4:30 for the following day. The website states ONE HOUR notice is needed. I gave them much more. The ladies behind the counter could not figure out what I was talking about or what to charge me. They called a manager on the phone. I spoke to her and let her know what I wanted. The lady that was helping me went back to the back and never came back. A new lady went and called Jorge. Who then called someone else. He finally rang me up $205 at 5:11 pm almost 45 minutes of waiting around for them to figure their own menu out. I was to pick it up the next morning at 11am. I showed up and no one had any idea what I was talking about and no order was prepared. I showed them the receipt and they still had no idea. They got on the phone to call someone else. It's now 11:30am half an hour after I was supposed to just show up and pick it up. And I still have not been told where my order is. This is absolutely terrible service. Not only is the staff not trained correctly, the communication among their shifts is a joke. If you are planning an event you're already stressed. This location, formerly Mi Pueblo Food Market, is a popular, well stocked store which carries Hispanic brands, fresh fruits, produce, full service meat and seafood counter to have your choice of pork, beef, and poultry meats cut and trimmed to order, dairy department, hot food to eat in or take out, and a large assortment of Mexican pastries baked in-house. We went in after 4:30 p.m. to buy fried whole tilapia for dinner, but they only had two left and they do not fry fish from the seafood case. Although the lines were long, as only a few registers were open, the wait time was about 10-15 minutes.
