Chitos Birerria — Restaurant in California

I only put one star since they don't have the negative star option. I drove 35 min away to buy tacos from this place. When I got home, they gave me the wrong qty!!! My son was left without his order and I had to scramble to give him some of mine that had salsa. I called, since they aren't cheap, and they never answer the phone. Anyways, I couldn't make the drive again that same day since it would be 1hrs just to go and come back home. I went back 2 days later on a Wed and they weren't there...I called with no answer. I finally catched them today for them to deny a refund or at least compensate with what I had paid for. They were rude to me and didn't mind my time or fact that I'm a paying customer. They said it was my fault for not coming that same day. I explained to them the time that it was and with a newborn I couldn't make the trip for my 4tacos. They were laughing and simply didn't refund me. Horrible customer service and lack of emphaty. Not asking for freebies just what I paid for. Never again will I be coming here or referring my friends from the bay when they visit. The slickest way to finesse someone and it might not be much to them, but the inconvenience that they caused on a family...

We used to love this place but clearly the quality has gone down quite a bit. We went 5/12/22 at around 5 pm and bought a lot of food. My husband’s carne asada tacos were awful, the meat was as tough as beef jerky we had to throw them out. I ordered a gordita, it was very dry and mostly masa, not the Gorditas I remember they used to be juicy and had lots of great toppings like fresh lettuce, tomatoes and cream. All the veggies were old. I also ordered empanadas for my guest, the meat in the pork was hard and dry like tougher than jerky could not chew them at all, the chicken ones were ok but no flavor at all and the empanada dough was just greasy with no salt. All of it was inedible. I tried calling several times and no one answers the phone. I know times are hard but I would rather pay a few dollars more for better quality. It seems the original elder staff is no longer there. Whoever has taken over doesn’t care about quality. I have a instagram page dedicated to the best places to eat "in my opinion" cause we all like different things and have different taste pallets. So I have people ask me to go try places and review. I would shamelessly plug my instagram but chitos deserve all the plugging. SO SO SO GOOD! Many options and choices of how you want your Birerria. They sell real Birerria (goat) not Americanized and sell you beef. If you are just getting on the red taco or queso taco craze, I highly recommend you visit Chitos first cause I would say with confidence they a real good Gold standard to have a Base of what alot of places are trying to imitate Americanizing it what caused the growing popularity of the food. The red taco/queso taco being substituted with beef instead of goat was great for business and making it popular, but the downside is alot of not so great tacos are being made. Chitos Birerria stuck to the roots, and I feel not being talked about enough! SO START TELLING...
