My sister & I brought our 9 month old Yorkies, Bennie & Joon, to this park as they have a separate area for small dogs. Initially they were leashed and all the dogs slowly started coming over and introducing themselves. All was going well and one of the persons there advised us the dogs would do better off leash. Our dogs are trained so we thought this would be great. Within minutes of taking off the leash, one dog started nipping at my sister's dog, Joon. Jokingly I said "She's 'fixed' buddy, you're not gonna get anywhere." The same woman who advised us to off leash then said that the dog was also a female and no sooner had she said that did that dog and several others gang up aggressively on Joon. Thank God, as I said, ours are trained and Joon was able to get to me when I called her. I had to scoop her up to protect her. I loved on her and gave her a treat to reward her for coming when called as this training and reinforcement was a definite life saver. Now, rather than apologize for their dogs behavior and doing something about it, they had the mitigated balls to chastised US for giving treats. We left, we will...

I am a bit neurotic, since perhaps because the cause was the incompetence of the police. So needless to say it effects my dogs behaviors and quality of life as well as my own so he doesn't get the normal dog experiences and doesn't do well around many other new people and even less with other dogs. So it was a treat to be able to see him run around and smell all the smells even if it can only be when he's...
Read moreDogs love, people love it. I think people actually love it more than the dogs. Lots of room for the big dogs to roam and play. Little dogs get their own large, secure area, plus the small dog people get their own large, cement table and benches in the shade. It's well used! While the big dog area does not enjoy a large table, there are several benches to rest on. The park is well maintained and a good location with drinking water for people and their furry, four legged friends. Plus, doggie bags and safe receptacles. The bonus, it's next to MID's canal for a drink and a swim following a...
