There are two distinct halves of this trail and an unused "middle section". The southern half is just south of Turnpike Road and heads south through the woods and over the CT River on a bridge. This is a nice peaceful section and on hot sunny days you will appreciate the shade. The northern half follows the CT river north into town, passes under the big bridge, and ends in a park. There is little shade here so bring sun protection if you plan to go this way. it also crosses a few roads, but only one is likely to have traffic. Finally, there is an unused section that continues directly from the northern end of the bottom half. It's overgrown and has broken glass, so I don't...

I had a really nice time on this relatively short rail trail. It's about 7 miles long from one end to the other and back. Mostly flat and pretty casual. There are a few spots where you have to cross streets. One particular spot is where you have to bike down Depot street and cross Montague City Road. There are some crossing signs to help with crossing. From there you bike up Solar Ave, turn onto Rod Shop Road and then the trail continues just off the end of Masonic Ave. Overall not bad. It's well maintained and there are parking spots on both ends. Definitely worth...

We were driving through town on our way to Deerfield and saw the waterfall. We decided to get a closer view and had a short walk down the canal path. Saw the salmon education center and then the salmon run that saves the fish from the falls. Afterward we went to a small exhibit on the nature of the area, flora and fauna, as well as some dinosaur footprints. The personnel in the nature center were very helpful and knowledgeable, sharing about the area and answering our questions. A very worthwhile stop...

This is a great trail that's very level. Only a few spots that is hiller which is only up to the street level. The people walking were super friendly and polite which made for a safe feeling while walking. Wish they had public restrooms and restaurants set up...would be super neat. We just loved this trail for a snow free winter walk.
