This was horrible and not at all how I remembered it being as a kid. When I was a child I remember this place being much longer and full of lights and amazing. Claiming to have 15 acres of lights, I think not, unless you count the area we drove around to get into. As an adult this place was highly disappointing. There were cardboard cut outs of things with lights around them and some lights not even functioning fully. After being in line for 3 hours I was expecting this place to be like I remembered it, also being sponsored by KDKA a local news channel you would think it would be much better. I drove in a circle for at max 8 minutes to see the disappointment. I miss Hartwood Acres and very much wish they had not closed it because for an hour drive I much would have gone there than to this disappointment which could have been done out of my own backyard and been much better. The only solace that I can give myself is that maybe some of the money went to the local animal shelter that was gathering donations because 15$/car for this is not worth the wasted time and hours of my life I will...
Read moreI’ve been visiting Overly Christmas for years, and it used to be an experience with beautiful lights and festive Christmas music. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. They now charge an outrageous $25 for a lackluster experience, which is not worth it.
This year, I tried the “walkable” version instead, and it was even more disappointing. Much of the display was roped off, making it impossible to enjoy or even get a good view of the lights. It felt thrown together and far from the magical experience I remember as a kid.
What makes this worse is reading the owner’s responses to critical reviews. Instead of acknowledging valid concerns, they dismiss them by saying it’s a walkable display now, not a drive-through. They are completely missing the point.
For the steep price and lackluster experience, I won’t be coming back. It’s a shame to see such a beloved tradition decline so much over the years.
Message to the owner: I recommend you take the time to appropriately respond to your reviews rather than copying and pasting the same message. Nothing shows a lack of care...
Read moreI've taken my children to Overly's Country Christmas every year over the past 5 or 6 years (its pretty much become a family tradition) and every year is just as great as the last. Their Christmas lights are absolutely beautiful and the kids are always ecstatic about getting to talk to "Henny" the talking Christmas Tree! After walking around to see the animals, we stop by to get their pictures done with Santa, before stopping by the gift shop and finishing off our visit with some food and steaming hot chocolate! For an additional price, there are horse-drawn wagon and sleigh rides (that go around the village to see all the lights) and a small train for children to ride on. If you get cold and want to warm your hands up or if you just want to sit down and relax for a bit, they pretty much always have a nice warm bonfire going with log seating all around it. I do and always will recommend to anybody/everybody to make the trip to Overly's during the Christmas season and take advantage of the Holiday spirit and beauty they...
