DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE. The entrance path to this beautiful waterfall is about 50 feet before the bridge. We parked at Hedge Creek Falls entrance parking lot. Go early, limited spots. Bring cash if you want to buy some local raw honey that is located at the beginning of the trail head of Hedge Creek Falls. Bring bug spray if you’re attracted to anything that flys. Right when we were about to hike the trail, a 10 year old kid came running out and told us he was stung by some hornet. Another family with a little toddler also turned around. They told us it was right at the beginning of the water crossing. When we got to the water crossing path, we were worried, but our bug repellent must have scared them away. We didn’t run into any issues with the hornets. Bring water shoes, a towel, and a bag! The water did get to knee deep, half way to my thighs at some point, I’m about 5’3. Take your time with the slippery rocks. Almost ate it a couple times, but the river didn’t get me. Once you finished the water crossing, get to that top, and turn right! Hike another quarter mile, BEFORE the bridge, start keeping an eye out for a turn out to see the waterfall entrance path. You should also be able to hear the waterfall as you’re getting near it! Items you must bring - bug repellent, water shoes, good hiking shoes, towel, and plastic bag for your wet...

Of the river we crossed for reference. September 2022.
WHO
Couple in their late 20s, fairly fit and enjoys outdoors and nature. More on the adventurous side but also not huge risk takers.
MY EXPERIENCE
We went in September, it was a warm day, clear skies. Would visit again but with other people to enjoy too. Spent about 3 or 4 hours doing this. More time spent hanging out at the falls and getting in ge cold water.
I loved it. I felt more connected to nature after there. I dipped into the freezing water and made a wish. There was someone meditating on a rock. We got lucky because the train was undergoing maintenance so we didn’t see or hear the train go by.
Crossing the river was a fun challenge. I wouldn’t cross it if the river was really high.
WHAT TO WEAR
Regular hiking clothes, shorts, waterproof shoes or water shoes. Someone else crossed in Vans but I like to be comfortable. Something you’re OK wetting.
HOW TO GET THERE
Park at Hedgecreek falls Do the short trail to river Reach the river and cross it Watch video for reference of how deep it was when we went Get out of river Follow the tracks down towards your right Reach bridge of the track and you’ll see or hear Mossbrae Falls Use your...
Read moreI parked at the thrift shop on Dunsmuir Ave, they have a sign outside for mossbrae falls parking. It cost $21 for the whole day and I opted for that choice. From there we walked North on Dunsmuir Ave until we got the the metal arch that said Shasta retreat. We walked down the hill on that road and crossed over the bridge at the bottom of the hill. Once we crossed the bridge there were railroad track and we went left along the tracks. It is about 1.5 miles along the track and there is more room on the right side going there or on the left side coming back. It gets warm during the summer months so start early! After about 1.5 miles you will see the railway bridge and a big painted rock. The small path to Mossbrae is to the right. Do not cross the bridge. I didn't encounter a train when we went this way, but it still is an active railway, so be cautious and listen for the train/vibrations to steer clear of the tracks when a train is coming. Otherwise the spot was beautiful and worth the short trek. I saw plenty of families with small children walking...
