As both a guest and having been a volunteer here, I've found the house museum to be a good place to learn some of the interesting early history of Mountain View and the Bay Area. There are complimentary tours of the house museum on Tues, Wed, and Sun. Sunday tours are led by a docent in period costume which folks enjoy. The grand tour finale in the music parlor wowed me with the opportunity to hear music players do their thing the way they would've for audiences over a century ago. The museum and grounds are also rented at a reasonable price for events and special occasions, like tea parties and weddings during non-touring hours. The grounds at Shoreline Park where the house stands are also a pleasant backdrop for all sorts of visitors including nature seekers.

I recently had the pleasure of filming a wedding at this remarkable venue, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The venue itself was absolutely stunning, with its picturesque outdoor ceremony space and elegantly decorated reception area. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly, from coordinating with the couple to assisting me with any technical needs I had. The lighting throughout the venue was perfect for capturing those magical moments, and the attention to detail in every aspect of the event was truly commendable. I highly recommend this venue to any wedding videographer looking for a breathtaking location and a supportive team to work with.

We toured Rengstorf House as a possible venue for a wedding. Impressive. Update: The wedding is next month so we looked over the venue in general again and specifically the arbor which we have to cover with flowers. A nice place but many hoops (like vendor insurance) to jump through with your vendors. Enough restrictions too, especially with lighting limitations.

Sept 2025. Rengstorff House is an antique, 19th Century home restored to its former glory by history enthusiasts with the help of professionals and a $1.2 MM grant from the city of Mt View.

Advertised as the oldest surviving home in Mt View. It was the home of entreprenuer, farmer, business man, and prominent citizen of Mt View - Henry Rengstorff. The Wikipedia entry on the home is quite good - despite being Wikipedia. Look it up before you go.

We live in a 19th Century home, and we've been restoring it for years. Hence, we were very interested in this home despite being tourists.

If an antique home interests you, it is well worth your time. Admission is free, and there's a good chance you will have your own tour by the docent on duty.

Our tour guide was Luke, and he was extremely knowledgeable about the renovation and the family history. In turn, we explained a few difficulties of removing antique utilities and meeting modern codes.

Highly recommended, and I commend the historical folks, the staff and the city of Mt View for their beautiful...
