I went to Fright Kingdom with my son on 10/16. If you’re looking for a great haunted attraction this is the place to go. After you pay your entrance fee (I highly recommend VIP because you get unlimited runs through the attractions with no waiting for a group) you go into a main waiting room area. There’s all kinds of scary attractions in there. There are actors dressed as monsters. One scary clown lady spoke with my son. That freaked him out a bit. Then he ran into another lady monster pushing a cart with a baby doll. She came up to him but didn’t speak (she had no mouth). By the time I got him in front of the full size Jason and Freddy mannequin displays to get some photos, he was so freaked out he wanted to go home. So I called the wife and had her come down to get him. But the plan changed. :)
My son stayed with the people in the ticket counter (apparently there is a large freak out factor with the younger kids so they can stay there while the parents go through the attraction). I don’t think it’s SOP but they were really nice to do this for us. Then I grabbed my wife and she reluctantly accompanied me into the main attraction.
Originally we were going to go through ourselves but after some thought and my wife clutching onto me, we ended up going through with a six person group. That was the best decision ever. It is a scary attraction. If you’ve got a heart condition I would not recommend going by yourself because you could be jump scared to death.
I’m not going to give you the details so you won’t get spoilers - but it was an AMAZING experience! Every attraction is different. The animatronics and creature effects were top notch. The makeup of the actors and actresses were top notch. Nobody broke character. I could tell that they really enjoyed their work and knew exactly what to do to make the experience a memorable one. And they knew when to ease up if someone was already scared out of their minds. :)
One thing I should warn you. The final attraction is brutal and it is pretty much pitch dark in there. There are staffers that will gently guide you through if you are lost. People do bail out on this last attraction. We lost our six person group and it was just me and my wife at one point. Then we ran into another group that was hopelessly lost and asked me to lead. Eventually I got them out due to sheer luck and nudging from the staff on how to escape.
The best part was when we got out we were greeted by our son who was with the owner of Fright Kingdom. Our son was concerned something might have happened to us because we were gone so long. :) I had a chance to talk with the guy and I could tell right away he is a big horror fan and really did his homework when he went to design this place. He said we were welcome to go back through the attraction again and would put us at the front of the line. We went back to the beginning but my son decided against it just before we were to go in with another group. Oh well, maybe he’ll be up for it next year. I know I’ll be going next year for sure! :)
I highly recommend checking this place out before it closes up for the season. Prepared to be scared in a safe environment by people who...
Read moreA friend and I went on Halloween night, and let me tell you, we were pretty terrified! Neither of us enjoy horror or scary things but wanted to try this to step out of our comfort zone and do something new. All five houses are inside one long warehouse building. We had a timed ticket for 8pm and waited only a couple minutes in the line outside before getting in the building. While you’re waiting in the line outside, there are Actors who weave throughout the lines and try to scare you! Once you’re inside, you wait to come to the ticket booth. No actors in the lines there, but they walk the perimeters of the room so you have to watch out if you’re near the edge of the room. Once you get through there, you walk through a museum section showcasing different monster and horror movies. You can take pictures in this area and outside, but just not when you go through the houses themself. There are actors roaming around the museum part too who will try to scare you. Once you get to the first house, you go in and it’s very short - only one hallway long. We didn’t realize this counted as one house, but looking back later we realized that counted as the first one. We made it through that one ok, but there was one actor who weaved through the next line we waited in who was really freaky and changed the vibe of our night for the worst. My friend and I were able to make it through the next house which was a bit lengthier, but when we got to the end of that one, we were really done and asked the in-costume attendant at the entrance of the next house if we could leave. He called for one of the stage managers who came and got us and escorted us behind the scenes and out of the building! There was only one more actor who waited by the exit door to scare people, but thankfully there were no actors roaming around the Midway when we got out because we were pretty done with the experience and not in the mood to deal with it anymore. We waited in line to purchase our photos and then left! Overall the production value is really great - the costumes, sets and special effects are all very effective! SO effective that we were terrified and had to leave before finishing the whole attraction! The actors are not supposed to touch you, but there was one clown who came right up behind me and brushed up against my shoulder/neck as he whispered something creepy in my ear. The other actors really do come up VERY close to you so if you’re someone who needs personal space, expect it to be invaded throughout the night. If you love Haunted Houses and creepy things, you will LOVE this place, but if you’re like us and get scared easily, stay...
Read moreOkay! Where to start! The beginning? The beginning is a time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct! Oops 😬! Sorry! I've been reading "Dune". Warning⚠️ If you are claustrophobic, fear total darkness, are light 🚨 and sound sensitive, rely on service animals or have health conditions, especially asthma and heart issues, Do Not 🚫 Go!! Parking 🅿️: There is parking near Fright Kingdom but it fills up fast ⏩ closer to when Fright Kingdom opens. You may see a neon sign at the intersection directing you to a parking lot further away. It is a short walk to Fright Kingdom from that parking lot but buses 🚌 are available. Wait time: The first two lines are separated by half hours, 8:00/8:30 for example. You are eventually let into the building. There is a museum of horror before you reach the ticket 🎫 booth. If you paid for your tickets online, they scan your phone and then give you a physical ticket. You will be giving that ticket to an usher before Apocalypse Z. You will be asked how many members are in your group and they will sometimes have you get in a certain line as they let people in. The journey is set up as: Apocalypse Z, the Abandoned, Bloodmare Manor, Psyco Circus 🎪, Grim and Monster 💀 Midway. There is an additional ride by the exit that costs extra. Midway food and sales booths are there as well. Bloodmare Manor had minimal gore. Psyco Circus did have some of the clowns from "Killer 🤡 Clowns From Space 🌌". It is a 3D experience and one part of it I had to take my 3D glasses off because I get vertigo. It is very disorienting. Grim I had issues with because I kept bumping into the person in front of me and the people behind me were bumping into me. Any flash of light was welcomed. Everyone was apologizing to each other. One person walked into a wall. At the end 🔚 I said out loud when I got outside "It's over?! Oh man, bummer!" Everyone was rushing through there! I was hoping to get a better look at the animatronics. Because of the amount of people and the fright factor people just wanted to get out of there! I think I was a soft target to the actors because they just looked at me and concentrated on the women who were screaming. Some of the actors approached me and I just said "Cool!" and they would stare at me and move on. One honked a rubber chicken 🐔 in my face. The museum I loved because it involved history. There was an animatronic of Vincent Price that I enjoyed. I watched so many movies and TV shows with him in it! If you are into horror and want a thrill, I...
